Horizons Help needed! Switching between your plotted route and inter-system objects?

Hi All,

Perhaps a Noob Question this one, but I'm having trouble figuring it out and after a fruitless hour of searching YT videos, I thought it might be easier to ask the question here.

OK, so you plot a route in the galaxy map (2 or more jumps), and you do the first jump, then you target the star to surface scan it or you spot a USS and target that, whatever it is that grabs your attention in the system you just jumped to... How do you then switch back to your plotted route? :S

Do I need to drop out of SC or do something else?

I've tried unlocking the inter-system object but this doesn't reactivate my plotted route. I have to go back and re-plot the route. Thankfully much easier now with bookmarks!

I'd really like to crack this one if some kind soul would explain what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for your help! [heart]

There is a control option to target the system targeted for hyper-jump - I forget what it is called - I have bound it to the backspace key.... :)

Nav tab on your left, your next target in route will have the plot icon next to it. The Nav list only lists objects up to 20ly, so if you go further, you want the last entry. If it is closer, which the display next to the list of objects tells you, just scroll until you see the one with the plotted route icon.

Not necessarily the last entry - even more likely not if economical routing is used.

The hyper-drive target system does have a yellow marker at the right hand side of its line in the list of systems in the left hand HUD though.

Check the control mappings, you can bind a key to "next system on route" or similar.

+1 Rep :)

Thanks! I've now bound the Target Next System on Route to the U key (one of only two I haven't bound yet!) and this does now appear to let me resume a route!

Thanks for all of the replies received! Very much appreciated!!

wow!....just as you think you know how everything works and that some things are badly designed....

i still prefer head look and scroll down . if i use controller to open the panel sometimes it decides to try and deploy hardpoints instead lol. so clcik right stick button, look at the panel and scroll down and select. but now i know you can set a key... my only issue is i have no idea what keys are already in use.

if you try to bind a key that's already used, you get a warning message telling you that the key is used and for what.
also in that message you have the options "confirm", "always confirm" and "cancel".
if you decide to overwrite the key function, be sure to select "confirm". I assume "always confirm" will deactivate the warning message for further overwrites.
