Help needed with POIs

So I'm 56KLY from Sol (at one of the DWE stops), and I've found a blue POI circle.

But when I land near the POI and jump in the SRV, all I can find is outcrops, etc.

Can a blue POI indicator mean "there's some rocks to find" or does it always mean "something other than just rocks"?

In my experience that usually means either a higher density of rocks you can shoot or that the rocks there hold a higher rate of rare materials.

depends of the size of a poi.

small pois might refer to materials or geysers/fumaroles.

large pois have always something to find.

i generally eyeball me in the center of a POI, mark the lat/long, and descent... watching the surface etc.

I've had since 2.3 five of these mockery POIs.

Two of these five were initially filling the whole radar on max zoom-out and then shrunk to the point where they wouldn't even fill the radar anymore on max zoom-in.

The other three never became smaller, and all five had NOTHING on the scanner when I landed.

I've had tons of bad luck with finding POIs in the past already since Horizons got released but now FD 1-up'ed it by adding fake POIs into the mix, so I keep finding more nothings but compared to before get excited (well not anymore by now) that I *might* find something this time.

They first appeared in the beta and I posted a bug report about the mysterious super large shrinking POI's, the problem with some of them not shrinking is that you need to pass within a certain range of the rock causing the POI (and yes the mysterious shrinking ones are always rocks). If you miss it then the POI remains large, I sometimes have to do several passes through to get them to shrink, for the most part I ignore these now, I bug reported, they wanted a video. I have a video but I don't have a video upload site so that's as far as it went.

If people want to check them out for interest these super large POI's always, and I mean always appear in a splash crater, the flat ones with the radiating ejecta lines, pick a small one to make it easy, it's 100% reproducible.

Okay, so after an hour of driving around I've given up.

I have to assume it's just a "here's some rocks to blow up" POI, which seems pretty pointless, as you can visit almost any landable planet and find any number of rocks within a few minutes.

I was hoping that a blue POI meant something "special".

Ho, hum :(

Yeah this rocks POI is the worst idea since a long while.

I really hope they get rid of it again or give it a clear designation, like a different color or pattern, so you outright know you can ignore the hell out of it.

The HUGE ones that shrink are rocks, the tiny ones are usually minerals associated with geysers/fumaroles, The next size up are often wrecks and there's another size between HUGE and medium that are often associated with mining installations, these things;

Just ignore the HUGE ones that shrink.

That'd be easier if they'd shrink BEFORE you pass right over that 1 rock they imply to "point" at...

I miss finding these mining sites, not because they have nice loot, because most of the time they don't, but they look nice, and it's been a year since I'm out of the bubble and the best thing I've found out here was a crashed DBS, or a Condor, or neither because these were back when I left...

Point is, I feel like I'm on a content banlist with how much I am NOT finding -_-
