Help Newer Players: Help Sirius Corp Take Luyten's Star

Everyone wants access to Marco Qwent. Why would you not? Power Distributor modifications are something every combat pilot wants. And I bet there are reasons other pilots might want them, as well.

Unfortunately, getting to Qwent, isnt easy. You need an invite. From the Sirius (totally NOT Cybernetics) Corporation. And while there are numerous systems in which you might find them, many are located quite a ways from the bubble, or at least, the central part thereof.

Right now, Sirius controls Avik. One small hub. That's it. So getting missions from them, at a station they control, is...not easy. Not anywhere remotely close to the bubble.

And then...then, there's Luyten's Star. Sirius is a player in the system. They have influence at the primary station. Which means that, if we work at it, we can push them into control of the system. So lets do it.

Why do This:

Easy. Luytens Star is a FANTASTIC system. Its right around the corner from Saul and Alpha Centauri. Its close the multiple Engineer bases (especially if you have a 'travel' ship with good range). It features TWO large, ringed Gas Giants, which means a flow of pirates into RES sites, and consequently, bounties. Which we can redeem with Sirius for rep, once they control a station in the system. It features multiple stations, which means lots of places to pick up missions.

How Do We Do It:

I'm no BGS expert. Far as I know, we run missions for Sirius in Luyten's Star. And we work at taking down ships belonging to the owning faction. Which...presents a bit of a problem. Because we need to be in this system to work for Sirius.

If anyone wants to chime in, I am definitely open for some advice. I'm looking for new ways to enjoy this game, as well as to give back to the community. So I thought I would start by trying to help make Qwent more accessible.

If anyone has other recommendations, or if I'm on the verge of trampling on the toes of the Hutton Truckers (I know this is their back yard, or near enough) please let me know.

Thanks.

That's a nice idea - once they control a station you gain rep by trading and selling exploration data, and if they control the system then bounty hunting helps too. I remember getting allied with Sirius Corp was a bit of a drag so I may drop by later and run a few missions for em.

Its going to take a while. No illusions there. But I want to see if I can accomplish this, or help accomplish it. And I would like to try and make it stick.

Oddly, I think playing the BGS really interests me for some reason. Its a bit like a 4X game (which I dont like due to personal taste but am willing to admit have some solid mechanics and I can see the appeal for more strategic thinkers) but this time, I get to DO stuff myself, as opposed to make a plan and watch it play out.

So yeah, drop on in. I tend to play in Mobius PVE, but if we get some Commanders interested in helping Sirius out, I might give Open a shot for once. Not crazy about no-consequences PVP but I would hate to organize or help organize something like this and not actually see anyone there.

Also: Passenger Missions. Dont forget about those. I ran two so far and both offered REP+++ while requiring only one jump each of less than 25LY with only a large economy class passenger cabin. Hope that helps.

Count me in. Can a BGS expert give some advice?

I do plan to run some PP for a bit too, so I'll mix it up. Long as I can make at least some cash on Luyten's, it can help me toward my war chest for stashing Prismatic generators. (Yes, I'm finally going to get around to cashing in on Aisling. I'll go back to her long-term, but I want some Imperial Hammers stashed too, so I'm going to be a bit mercenary for the next month or two.)

I was based in Luyten's star, Ashby city if I remember correctly. Nice place, good RES sites...good luck with that.

Thanks. I appreciate it, and I think a lot of newer players will one day as well.

sounds like a worthy goal. Could be fun to do and you're right, it would help out newer players. I'm only about a hundred ly away from there right now so I'll keep an eye out for opportunities that can bring me that way to throw a little assistance in the general direction of this effort. Bring a few of your trigger-happy buddies along too, because now that it's been discussed publicly we all know that a few folks will be going there just to get their pewpew on :)

Thanks, and fair point. If you're going there in Open, well, you know what its going to be like. Why anyone would want to grief an effort that helps basically the entire community is beyond me but you can bet your thrusters someone will try.

Well Sirius corp. are fundamentally flawed and absolutely evil, so there is that...[haha]

I'm over in Okinura but I can pop by and help. It shouldn't take too long if you get a good 5-10 people working on it. A week or less?
