Help - no docking permission

Hi all - was loving it but now just frustrated!
What am I doing wrong?
Accepted a delivery mission
Went to location
Locked station in LH screen
All I get is opportunity to unlock said station.
Nothing in 'Contacts' section
Try to land anyway and got a fine ...!
What did I miss - I'm sat outside watching others come and go while my timer counts down and I get another fine.
Tried in live game and Solo

Lucky you only got a fine. Try that at some stations and they will open fire.
If you don't get permission its one of two things. Either you are too far out (check comms it will say need to be less than 7k), or the starion is full. Just be paitent and request again. Keep an eye out for departing ships

Hi,

I've noticed that at some platforms if I come to a complete stop and turn engines off. They let me dock. Before I had engines running and I got denied all the time. Might be coincidence though. It also says you should read station protocols. Haven't found them anywhere yet.
If this is actually a feature, hooray to FD! Total immersion. More like that please.

A space station has enough docks for all, but the platforms have I think only 4, so if it's a busy system it may well be full, plus the platforms like you to request docking at 7.5km and typically I will wait there till getting permission.

Best way I solved this problem is, save and exit to main menu. Start in solo, after landing get back into open.

Thanks all for your replies - Special thanks to Gmotagi who nailed it - had switched em off while exploring the really badly documented interface!
At least it wasn't a bug!
