HELP: Oculus only shows giant screen - no 3D looking around

So I have been trying to fix this all weekend. I'm using a DK2 and tried both latest runtime and the older 0.8.

The issue is that in VR mode in Elite Dangerous, I don't get any full cockpit immersion, it's just a giant 2D screen (with 3D depth) in one direction and black everywhere else.

The main menu shows a hangar with a ship in it for some reason? Don't know if this is normal.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with a GTX 970, and running ED through Steam.

Oculus has worked fine with every other game I have, it just seems to be Elite which is giving me this problem.

I have tried messing with the 3D settings, booting the game in 2D mode and changing it to 3D in the settings - nothing works!

Any help will be much appreciated!

Thanks!

It should be fairly straight forward. I am assuming you have the following:

1. Oculus software installed and configured (should be version 1.5.0.240083 by now).
2. In the software went to settings->General->Unknown sources is checked.
3. Uninstalled all the steam VR stuff.
4. Start elite dangerous normally (non vr mode) in steam.
5. In settings set the HMD option to head phones.

That should do it.

Thanks, I'll try it out when I get home tonight

Though I do remember the latest software for oculus not being compatible with my hardware?
