Help on making big creds

I just got to about 1.3 Mil today. I'm trying to save up atleast 15 mil to buy an ASP fixed with explorer upgrades. (I really want to see the vast beauty of the milkey way). I see on the forums some of you guys say you can make 1-2 mil and hour. How so? I'm currently flying with a cobra with some pretty ok upgrades. I've been bounty hunting at NAV hubs and RES's. Most bounty I've gotten was about 1K for a kill. Even jumping into low intensity combat zones for cash. Haven't even tried trading (other that bulletin missions) and or mining. Any helpful hints for you guys?

Bulletin board missions / Conflict Zones / Rare trading

Build up faction rep with system factions to get better BB missions and pay. I made a ton of money early on by friendly / allied BB smuggling missions.

Big money later on is from bulk commodity trading.

Rare trading or low CZ. Make sure you pick a faction under the functions tab when youre in the combat zone to receive credits.

Rares run from Altair - Rajukru - Hip 80364

buy Altarian Skin at Altair, sell at Rajukru where you buy Multi Stoves. A quick few jumps to Hip 80364 and buy the Organics (don't sell anything) then take both Organics and the multi stoves and sell at Altair. Rinse and repeat. In an exploration Asp (when you get one) you can do around 2mil CR an hour, give or take a few.

good luck

This is what I did. Started with BB missions to build up some creds. Bought a Adder and started running the Rare Trade route. Built up 1.5MM creds and kitted out a Cobra and have been running the Rare Trade Route but started stopping at the nav beacons on the commodity pickup legs and doing bounty hunting till I'm out of missiles then head on to the station and collect the bounties and load up on rares. This helps break up the semi-tedious rare trade loop with some good fighting and the fighting is has a edge as I have some rare cargo I can lose along with the ship insurance costs. More fun fighting with skin in the game as it were.

Note: Do not bounty hunt when fully loaded at the system where you want to sell your cargo aka the end of the long leg of the route. I learned this the hard way. ;O)

A Type 6 is probably the best thing to aim for if you want to trade, 3,000,000 should see it fitted for 112T with an A4 FSD. Should comfortably do 1.5 mil per hour.
A Type 7 is the next logical step up and should get you into an Asp in no time,
The Type 6 has a good jump range too (over 30lys unladen) and also makes a good mining ship when you're starting out.
If you fancy mining there's a list somewhere on the forum of systems with pristine metallic rings which are where you should mine for best results, Moyot was one such system from memory.
Make sure to equip a decent refinery and a collector limpet controller and fill up around 3/5 of your cargo space with limpets.
You don't need to mine at extraction points, you can mine any asteroid on the ring, just make sure you're on the metallic ring.
Trading will definately get you in an Asp quicker than mining though, try to aim for a route with one jump that has over 2000 Cr/T profit.
And above all on your way up to the Asp and beyond make sure you can always meet your ships rebuy cost...

Rare trading in SOLO to Zaonce - Lave - Diso - Leesti - Orrere (there's another but you get fined for the Evil Leesti Juice now. Then sell these at 39 Tauri - Fujin - Xihe - plus others that way that all have rares.
The game need Diso Corn at 50 limit again as another CG. It's way too hard a grind otherwise.

Rare trading, as mentioned, is a good way of making money early on.

Instead of requiring a very large cargo capacity to make money over short distances, you can make good money with a more modest cargo capacity over long distances.

A popular route here is Diso (and area) to Fujin (and area) and back again.

I found this in another thread here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RitrGeA_1jL48AcY1NUx6JUEMrFXZhZI7F05Y4cExrQ/pubhtml

A good route plan, with info on distances, stations, commodities.

Diso Ma Corn used to be quite highly stocked, but nowadays you only get a dozen or so tonnes rather than 50t. But, even so, you can get a nice profit on it, especially if you also visit Lave and Leesti etc. in the surrounding area to fill your cargo racks with their rare commodities too before you head off to Fujin.

This sounds too good to be true!

Its quick easy money but boring, worth noting that all you really need is a Type 6, with an A class FSD you can easily get 30+ LY jumps out of her. Personally I enjoy bounty hunting and Bulletin missions, can easily turn you a 1 million + profit in 15 minutes or so if the right mission appear as Pirate Lords even without being scanned are often worth 250k+ and the missions to hunt them will give another 50-200k usually. Only problem there is you have to be very high rank in combat usually Master and up to make any real profit.

I saw Shocken-Orr's post and gave it a go. Literally just finished the round trip back to Solo Orbiter at Altair and made 780k profit. Took a while in my Python but well worth it. Just going to configure for a longer jump range and I'm off again.

Yes range is the key.

The reason I mention doing the trade triangle in an Asp, in my original post, is because of the 30ly jump range but doing it in a type 6 is just as effective. If you can maximise the range then it takes approx 9 jumps from Altair to Rajukru, 4 jumps across to HIP 80364 and then 9 back to Altair. It is a bit of a grind but worth it if you can do 2 full circuits an hour. Perhaps you can park the Pyhton (not a Euphamism) and get yourself a type 6 with D grade everything except FSD which, of course, is an A grade.

Shouldnt take that long to make a nice amount. Good luck

When I was first making money to upgrade my Cobra and get my ASP I was doing this trade route*. But now I've switched to bouncing from station to station smuggling and grabbing missions that involve killing targets or assassinations for factions aligned with the Federation. I make just as much money, if not more, and it feels less "grindy".

I run this route just grabbing whatever is there (unless it's a low amount there), then I jump to Yu Di Yi because it's ~165Ly away and it has A5+ upgrades for everything there (plus 15 ships in the yard).
