HELP PLEASE!!

There is a windows injector but you honestly don't have the resolution to use it.
Unless the window is ginormous to the point where you hardly see any of the game anymore.

Or you have three words per screen/page. I guess it could work somewhat for video but that didn't work at all for me, it was either black screen or 3 fps.
Maybe in another decade, then. Fingers crossed, eh?

Some Wise and valid points to which i thank each and every one of the contributors, it is nice to get some adult conversation now and again on these forums.

The point about the warranty swung it for me. £400 is cheap for a 2 week old Rift, but very expensive if it develops a fault. So i have declined the offer for now and rely on 4k 40" and TrackIR

Thank you all kindly for some very wise words

Bought dk2 last may and tried elite in it .. premium beta backer.. i sold the dk2 2 weeks later to put money towards what is now my GTX 1080 and Rift cv1. Could not play ED on a monitor once id seen it in VR its an amazing experience - seeing is believing, and trust me the 14mth wait between selling my dk2 and finally getting my cv1 was hell, especially with all the game changes + horizons :( i play often, every other night or so ( wife to keep happy ) and when i do its 5-6hr stretches with no problems. ED was made for VR, your not even seeing 1/4 of the game on a monitor no matter what resolution you run it at. Buy the rift it works now if youve the hardware to run it - waiting for 2nd gen could be yrs cos even if they up the resolution on the hmd's the hardware to run it at that wont be available.

As i said before, Elite in VR is mindblowing... i absolutely agree with you. Now Elite is about flying a spaceship... before VR it was about playing a game.

I bought a CV1 just over a week ago , mainly for iRacing. I had a few days off work last week and found myself playing ED for 12 hours a day, it is just so immersive. Yes the resolution is nothing like a high res monitor , but it is good enough, and the feeling of actually being there in a 3d spaceship is beyond comparison, regardless of resolution, I soon got used to it enough not to be a problem.

I used to play on triple 1440p 144hz ROG Swift monitors, but I haven't turned them on since getting the rift.

Personally i find the isolation part of the attraction.
There is no checking Facebook. No forums. No youtube. No netflix.
Or other honestly pointless distractions.

Sure googling trades or engineer mods would be nice but honestly focusing on a few mods at a time (inow pining blueprinta) and just liberal use of bookmarks has this sorted.

@OP if you're willing to spend that kind of money on a piece of kit purely to play ED... then buy it. There are very little actual full fledged games for it.

Personally - I don't think it's worth it. It's still early days and there is a lot to be improved. I really disliked the lens tech, it's blurry around the edges with a sweet spot in the center. The screen resolution isn't great either. As a toy for a sporadic use - sure, go and get it. If you have serious VR gaming in mind - my advice would be to wait until next gen or better devices.
