Newcomer / Intro Help ranking up federation

So I am now petty officer in the federation how do I get more missions so I can rank up? Its been a while since I got that rank :S

Get a Fed Minor Faction up to Allied and then move on to the next.
Cant tell which minor factions you are already allied with because of your overall Fed Freindly/Allied status masking it ? Yes its a <doozy>. You have to use your memory, or judgement using the quality of mission on offer.

Ah that explains why my fed rank has improved without any intentional effort.
i have turned a few places to friendly but wasn't following a specific game plan .... Just having fun collecting black boxes and fetching commodities etc...
I'm not interested in the current perk of fed rank as the drop ship look like a space bourn pig but the upcoming fed ship looks interesting

Yeah thats why I want to rank up federation that new ships looks awesome
