Engineers Help Re: Engineer Parts?

Is anyone currently compiling a "how to" list of best practices for acquiring various parts needed in engineers? I imagine they'd also have a list of blueprints to make it easier for us as well (given how we can only pin one at a time).

The hints provided are fine, but I suspect aren't complete. For example, a certain part might be found in signal sources, but is it more likely to be found in debris or a convoy? Is it commonly dropped by enemy ships when exploded, or only found by scanning ships?

For the most part I have no problem just taking things as they come, but, for example, I've spent the last three days hunting for nanoweave cooling hoses (I think that's what they're called, something like that) which are listed as being available in missions. Nada. Okay, fine, but maybe the RNG has been set up so that they're more frequently offered as a reward in certain kinds of systems (Industrial vs Terraforming, for example). Or maybe they can also be found in USSs but far less frequently.

And it's not like the part I need isn't all that rare, it's for a Tier 2 upgrade!

Stickied posts in this forum is a good starting point. At least you can see what is needed for what and where to source them. Some commodities are for sale and can be found using thrudd etc. Inara has a good clickable list of materials.

Bit a how to or 101 guide would be invaluable. I've heard that to find mission only commodities it's best to move away from the engineer they are for. And go to systems where you have good rep with the locals for the missions to spawn of course.
