Help regarding NPC crew

I fitted my Krait with a 2x fighter bay.

Do I need 2 NPC crew to be able to use both at the same time? Or can I use multi-crew to have 2 other player use both fighters at the same time. Or a mix of 1 NPC and 1 human?

You would need a mix of a human and an NPC. The game will not let you use 2 NPCs for two different fighters.
