Help request: E-breach usage with default context controller

Before I submit an issue report I’d like to request confirmation from anyone else about this problem and I’m not just being a berk and missing something obvious:

When attempting to use an E-breach on a container with a default-context controller (in my case a wireless Xbox 360 pad) the game prompts me to press X to use the keypad or to press B to use an E-breach. Pressing B does nothing. Pressing and holding B brings up the sub-menu options bound to B.

In the controls settings I decided to bind LB as the secondary function - and it works as intended, applying the E-breach.

This looks like a problem arising from the new “press+hold to do illegal stuff” that was introduced in one of the Updates, and I think that might be being reverted? So this might be an issue that solves itself, but if anyone can let me know if I’m doing something wrong, it’d be much appreciated 👍

I use the default Xbox control scheme and I've not had any issues using the e-breach and the B button.

Strange that you are.

Damn, the possibility is then that I’m being a berk 😅

I tried it on a door and had the same problem, and also relogging to see if that helped (it didn’t). I’ve previously used E-breach units successfully, but that was before the Update that introduced the press+hold stuff.

I’ll have another look through my settings to see if I’ve missed something, and I’ll hold on reporting it until after this week’s Update.

Ta for the reply 👍

I have my keypad bound to using the top right fire botton for secondary fire actions, I don't have any issues when pressing this to use an E-breach OP

Thanks, but I was after people using default context controller settings - I can successfully use an E-breach if I rebind it to another button, but not if I use the default press+hold B.

That's OK, first thing I generally do with default settings is ditch them & bind keys to MY liking.........being a leftie usually makes default settings awkward in most games I've played;)

There is an option under on foot controls to switch context controls on or off. Switch it off and it should work again. Had the same issue a while back.

That sounds like the source of my berkishness and the thing I was missing 😅

Cheers for the heads-up 👍
I'm not sure whether this toggle has been a recent enough addition to the keybind options, as I had the opposite problem in the SRV from one day to another, without making any changes. So holding A and right dpad (for the cargo scoop) would also turn on the handbrake (assigned to button A).

The on foot controls are working for me now (hold button B to use the e-breach) but because the camera default is hold B + right dpad, when you enter the camera mode you also crouch (single press button B).

It used to work fine for me with keybinds since launch (or even the Alpha iirc), but I recently had to remap all my binds because the batteries in my Xbox pad died, I didn't have any spares, and therefore had to connect the pad via USB cable - but the game didn't recognise it as the same controller anymore.

I just checked my settings and its toggled off for me.

It's not a setting I recall ever seeing before.

Me neither. Or at least I never noticed, possibly because the default was different prior to one of the last patches, in fact I do seem to remember that the handbrake issue I explained above happened with 6.01 only... could be that.

I also had the handbrake issue and was almost getting to the sweary stage when I found the new setting in the controls menu.

It’s like the new options were added and defaulted to the most irksome setting 😁

Yep - I remember I was beaching about it on here thinking it was a bug (I even called it handbrake bug lol). You just never know what is by design and what isn't in this game!
