Help! Steam only?

Yeah I tried combat in a system way outside my class, did figure it out just had to drop their shields and keep them busy while my buddys shot missiles at them that took about 8 deaths... ill stick around SOL seems easy, I wish people would have been trying to kill me, at least its something because it feels a lot like single player still... Just no real direction once you get the boot except the engineer pop-ups... having the things they have to do means little when you know nothing about them lol CMDR Trailerpark flying the Comie Dodger ill shoot back or run or die that's life, i have report crimes against me off if that helps Viper3 now, thats the lowest im willing to go for maneuvering till I get enough for the really expensive ones... Thanks for the tips. about to smash into a station....

What helps me is setting goals. It could be small, like finish a power plant modification. It could be long reaching, like reach Elite status.

Maybe you just need to establish a few goals, which means you give yourself direction. Elite is not good at doing this for you, and I think you're right about that.

Maybe start with a goal of reaching Trailblazer exploration rank. Having this goal could mean...

-- A new ship that will be appropriate. Learn about various ships and outfitting
-- Focused gameplay (find valuable or interesting systems to explore, learn the exploration mechanics)
-- More money. Lots of cash to be made in the exploration game
-- A way to ease in to the game without being bothered by others
-- Increased rank, which opens up new missions
-- Increased faction rep as you sell your data

There are a million possible goals, so even this is a bit aimless. But pick something and go for it.

I picked up this diamondback explorer and found out it can actually jump fairly far, the problem was everything I had seen early on led me to believe your jump distance would drop by your tonnage.. exploring seems the only way to make decent cash anyway, not sure how much you make popping pirates in easy spots but the ones i hit gave me about 50k but only killed them with my allies help in that combat zone, lots of work when i can just spend 20 minutes jumping around and make more... some guilds to join or something would be nice, invitations sent once you leave or ignore them and do like it is now. I guess I just don't see the big picture, never played the original maybe.. guess ill try to endure see if it improves, but clearly this isn't the 1 and only game to play replacement I expected it to be, im less excited to play than weed still... thats what es me off.

A little late for this parade, but...

I don't use Steam either. I too dumped it back when the big change came about (old DOD player here, pre-sauce, MammaJamma's). I bought ED direct from the Frontier store. No troubles installing it, nor getting it to run. Very complex game, a lot to learn, it takes time, but definitely worth the investment. There's a lot to do, find your niche, the big picture is the one you'll paint for yourself. Have fun, hope it all works out for you. ;)

Yeah this game isn't for everyone. Supercruise is for no-one.... I cant find Michigan! Hurricane's ate us but left Florida...

Then 1 sloppy trip mining made more than my whole time playing, so if your reading this and your new; don't put off mining so long like I did lol
