Help! Stranded in space, out of fuel.

Is there a function for sending a distress-call? I ran out of fuel while trying to get to SOL in a Sidewinder (basic ship) and I don't want to 'cheat' by going back to a previous save (assuming I even have one).

It also looks like there's no star within range of SOL that my ship can utilise (my jump-range appears to be around 7.5 light years?). Do I need a bigger ship or can I buy a bigger jump-engine?

TIA. :)

You can send a distress beacon from the right hand HUD display, in the Function panel. Someone will come and give you some fuel, but for a really exorbitant price.
And there is no previous save. As in other online games like World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online, etc, what you do with your character is what you do with your character, there are no take-backs or do-overs.
And I think the Sol System is not yet implemented in Beta 3.

There was a distress call in the right hand panel at functions but it's removed for beta3.
When you are really out of fuel you are stranded right now, but I hope FD will introduce some feature to solve this.

Concerning the jump range, it may be that you (ok your ship ^^) are just too heavy to do the jump.
Then getting rid of the cargo helps and or try to upgrade the frame shift drive (FSD), this improves the jump range.

Update on previous save: Suicide sets you back in the last docking port. You should do this with minimal cargo, equipment in a Sidewinder to reduce the insurance costs.
When going for the base, free, Sidewinder it was the case that you always find yourself back in Eranin - when you are stuck in a system you can't leave with your jump range this was also a solution

Now the distress beacon has been removed, I think the refuelling ship arrives automatically.

Thanks. I'm new to the game and didn't find a guide on this last week, so I simply used the Self Destruct option to return me to the station. Yeah, I know...not very well thought out, however I needed to log off for the night, hehe.

I went for a deep space trip, w/o a fueling scoop... ERROR..... I went out of fuel, I launched some flares and try to send an sms to my base, even opening the window and screaming hardly HEEEELP didn't helped.

Terminated myself (it started as I opened the window ....)

If you're still stranded the best thing for you to do is to self destruct your ship and start over. SD is the last option on the right panel. You'll lose your cargo and missions and start over at the nearest station.

lol shouting out of your window in space tends to produce a drawn out, fading scream nobody can hear...

I went back into the game and found my ship (still where I'd left it after saving and quitting) had been fully re-fuelled.

That's gotta be a bug. When beta 3 started, I made a few jumps, found no stations/platforms, and started to worry about fuel. Then the server disconnect on me, when I reconnected, the fuel was full again.

Edit: Ah, that linked thread found the same thing. Btw, it worked for ammo too the last time I got disconnected.

oh frack it happened to me in a combat zone

suddenly ship shuts down, life support counting down....

no help? no hope?

So are you saying you're back in the hunt? I thought someday I might come upon your derelict vessel and after moving your lifeless corpse out of the pilot seat download all your data stores and notify your next of kin.

The mysterious McFuelington strikes again.
