I've been working on my federation reputation to get my SOL permit and I've been confused by how the standings/reputation systems works. It seems like it's changed since last year when I played last, pre-Horizons.
I seem to get more money but less rep from bounties, more rep but less money from missions. In fact, I don't think bounties have made any impact on my standings other than making them go down for whomever I am turning them in for?? Why would they make my rep go down? If the federation has a bounty on someone, and I kill him, and turn in the bounty, my rep should not be going down.
I keep losing federation rep 1-2% at a time for either doing nothing at all, or for turning in missions/bounties and I can't seem to find the rhyme or reason to it. I even lose federation rep when completely IDLE AND DOING NOTHING!! I will complete a few missions and watch it tick up 1%, then do another mission and watch it drop 1%?? I can't figure out why completing missions for federation factions makes it go both up AND down.
Last night, I docked up with 100% federation rep - Allied ; and 100% midshipman. This morning I log on, after obviously being offline completely so not doing any activities, and I am now at 99% federation with a red down triangle. Does your major faction rep deteriorate over time? If so, 1% in less than 24 hours seem way too much, especially when you may have to complete multiple missions to make it go back up that same 1%. If it goes up, it may continue to go down as a result of completing the missions too...
Also, how many missions do you have to turn in after you hit 100% on a rank to progress to the next rank?
