Flying with flight assist off. You all know the benefits of it and how fun it is but I have one big problem with its controls. I wish to retain the freedom of the ship not compensating for the flight direction but compensating for roll (stops after releasing the button), pitch and yaw (having an ideal position/rectangle on a 2D field to which the ship tries to orient itself to, example: everspace, mechwarrior) As far as I know there is no way of having any kind of orientation only assistance.

No, there is no such setting. However, it is not really that difficult to learn. In fact, stabilizing your rotation should be the first exercise in any FA off training regimen. (Just switch off FA when stationary and then induce a random rotation and practice stabilization.)
I fly FA off exclusively and after doing it for a while this skill will be completely comitted to muscle memory.

You can leave your suggestion in this subforum. Don't expect a quick answer though. Suggestions such as yours have been posted regularly since release of the game but FDEV never changed FA-off. They want you to work hard to access the advantages/joys of flying FA-off.

I assume you're using a joystick?

Flying FA off can be daunting but is very rewarding once mastered. I'd recommend commander Moxen Wolf's tutorials on YouTube. They will help you learn stabilisation very quickly.

I use a HOTAS. Many FA off only pilots use dual sticks. It is perfectly possible with a controller or K+M as well.

So people dock without it? That's a pretty tall order.
It becomes second nature once you are accustomed to it. It also allows some pretty slick looking approaches to outpost and carrier pads.

Seconded. This is how I started flying FA off.
