Help with +++ base attack strategy

I've accepted this mission, which I find it very interesting besides the large sum it pays.

I've tried tackling it by rushing into the base and activating the relay. But that doesn't help because security ships will rain down fire upon your little SRV..

A couple friends of mine discouraged me of doing these kinds of missions. They told me to take kill pirate ships instead or even blast ground base silos with your ship.

However, I really like the mission, I believe it is enticing and fun to do.

The only thing I thought was to gather up a wing and try to invade the base while wingmates distracted ships. Security ships tend to spawn rather frequently and it is even more demanding when Anacondas start showing up.

Have you guys done any mission like this? Do you have any advice? I would not like to dismiss these kinds of missions because I truly believe they are fun.

I'm going to try one later. They sound hard.

I was thinking of turning everything off on the SRV I could to reduce heat so it's even harder to detect. Silent run in and do the scan then bug out back to the ship.

Not tested it yet.

I tried a similar mission yesterday.

My only successful attempt was when I only focused on Scanning the COM array.

I rushed to <100m of its location, used the scanner in turret view and "escaped", i.e. had my SRV destroyed while outside the base perimeter.

Still got the information, went to the designated system, only to be destroyed by my target who was flying in a wing of 3 while no system security showed up to help, as I hoped.

Conclusion: Your friends are right, don't bother if you are not in a Wing.

Sad. I wish mission rewards could be split with the group, encouraging players to cooperate. That, besides the hefty bounty the target ships may have. :D

The mission in the OP is basically impossible to do without a wing. The npc ships will hound the SRV till it is destroyed, had this one in beta for the engineers update. I feel sorry for the solo players because this content is locked out for them. Those npc ships will also respawn fairly fast when destroyed.

I hear what you are saying but you also just made it a must do thing tonight when I get home!

Challenge Accepted!

The universe loves a tryer!

Ive got nothing better to do later so I'll try one. (If i can find one!)

im guessing now the Ai has been softened its still super hard?

My strategy with these is to first kill ships around it and make sure it happens outside the range of anti ship turrets. Then deploy srv outside the bases weapons and dismiss ship. (sometimes this seem to make base lose agro on you) Then rush to the base and find spot that no turrets have line of fire and wait for skimmers to come on line of fire one by one and kill them as they pop up. Then rush to mission target, kill turrets that can see you when you are next to target, but ignore all other turrets. Then move so i can kill one of the static turrets outside base and then just run off. Anti SRV turrets have really short range.

Can you not engage the ships first, and the assault the base?

Problem is sec ships spawn too frequently and too fast. Maybe if it could be tweaked so as to destroy ships that are tied to the base and THEN infiltrate the base to adquire the data.

Time will tell if this mission can be tweaked for the better or not.

Today I tried this mission again since it had nice reward of 2.2Mil.
Lost couple SRVs trying to rush inside base, but on a 3rd try (after I left to restock and came back) for some reason I triggered alarm only when my SRV was 200 meters from target (usually it was around 2km on +++ base). So I more than enough time and managed to scan and even run away. The actual target was just a master Python and I even had some security imperial courier backing me up (RIP brave warrior). So these were quite an easy credits.

So I'm wondering... how come alarm didn't work? Was it because I was hiding in pits and canyons almost until I arrived? Or their sensors don't cover the whole base but have some range and I slipped in between? Or it was just a bug?
What do you guys think?

P.S. Also success of base rush depends on which weapon patrolling ships use, this time it was Clipper with plasma accelerator so the guy had literally no chance to hit me.

If that's true then it's pretty poor.... I have a few friends on line but not a wing that I fly with. I'm not happy with the idea that parts of the game is locked off from me. Boo

Yes , I tried a few times, lost 3 Eagles and many srvs trying, I think that kind of mission will be feasable as soon as npc wing feature is added, then you can get a wing and do it , taking guarding ships down is the first step, the rest should be easy, also that's why those missions offer up to 3M and maybe more credits than other missions, they are difficult and the main issue is it would be a waste of money to have to replace a module of a combat ship with a hangar and it would make your ship less affective in combat cause you probably would have to use a module for hangar instead of scbs or other combat stuff...

However maybe there is a way to do it without wing, I will need to do more tests later :p

I saw a vid of a guy that used a fed ship 2fixed lasers and the rest dumb fire missle pods. He hung back and focused down the goliaths then the large turrets and small turrets. Then went in and landed when everything was dead to get the complete.

Everything was dead including the loot :D

That's a valid strategy but everything is vaporized [knocked out]

These sort of missions are usually labelled as Elite level, that translates to two things either you can fly and drive the same way as elite npcs or what ship you fly. A corvette would have less trouble with this mission than an eagle regardless of your rank.
