I might try that. I use the numeric keypad to move around. It works well enough but that mouse control looks more efficientYes, use the same key to enter and leave. FD must have been suffering brain fade when they didn't think of that.
I found that the FSS works really well with just the mouse. Use the scroll-wheel button to enter and leav FSS mode, the scroll wheel for tuning, the mouse movement for X and Y yaw and pitch, and the left and right clicks to zoom in and out. It's very quick and convenient like that. It works for VR too.

In this vid starting 8:45. I made this before i figured out that i had a scroll button, so just click the scroll button for enter FSS mode under mode switches and leave FSS in this section.You can have mouse and joystick controls for the FSS at the same time, so you can keep what you have and just add the mouse controls.Sounds good, especially with VR..... could I ask for a screen shot of your settings for that part of the controls? I find it easier if I have a reference
