Help with "career" needed

Hi, i could need a little help in career mode.
I have to edit the reserve of the snow leopard, in detail i have to replace the normal glass with the one, which is invisible from one side.
I cannot place the panel, the game says every time i try "panel too short"; if i move the mouse more forward, the colour for builiding disappears (hard to explain in englisch, i hope you can understand what i mean)

I think I know what you mean, if you can post screenshots it would help to understand.

Instead of placing a new barrier, have you tried highlighting the existing one and replacing it?
