Ships help with fer de lance build

hello, i am pretty new to the game and someone introduced me to deep core mining right off the bat, so i have a ton of money but dont really know how to spend it.

I bought a fer de lance and built it out with a bunch of stuff and still have an extra 350mil credits sitting around. maybe this is not the ship I should use for what I am looking to do but this was my plans.

I want to be a transporter of high value targets from the passenger lounge, only carrying a couple of passengers at a time. I put together my ship but it has basically no jump range, like 10-12 ly so i am

thinking did something obviously wrong when i built it.

I want to be very maneuverable which was why I went with the fer de lance, I do not intend for it to be a full combat vessel, but would like to be able to defend myself if needed.

any advice or recommendations for me would be very helpful.

i would post more stats of my ship but currently able to log in.

Without engineering around 12 LY is as much as you'll get I'm afraid, here's a fully engineered build I use for PVE BH

You could fit a few cabins if you wanted but it'll be limited as a passenger ship, I'd suggest using it as BH ship and buy something like a Dolphin for passenger transport something like this

https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/dol...2KQFMCGBzANokJrjwycIA=&bn=Dolphin entry level

Ironically some the most efficient passenger carriers are the Python and Anaconda although they can't fit luxury cabins (Dolphin, Orca and Beluga only) they're great for stacking passenger missions at Robigo (missions are high paying or high end mats and exploration rank but boring as hell!)

thanks, I will consider switching over to the python, that looks a bit more reasonable for what I want to do.

also what does BH stand for?

Orca FTW

No weapons needed

No one will catch you

I second this build. Personally I'd put in a small class 2 or 3 fuel scoop but I've done so much exploring I'm paranoid about leaving home without one. The FDl isnt a good passenger ship because it doesnt have much internal space to work with and the fuel tank is so small you have to refuel after every 2 jumps. Plus it's got a short jump range. It's best for combat. I personally use an Orca for passengers. It's an excellent ship and has very high maneuverability despite what it indicates on the buying screen. 10/10 would recommend it.

Like others I would strongly recommend against the FDL for this role. It's a killing machine, full stop.

Something like this would be way more suitable! Plus there's a pleasant "ding" every time you boost.

If you're going to smuggle high value passengers, then avoid the Python. Sure, it's beefy and has lots of internals, but either offer your passengers a bit of class in a sleek midnight black Clipper which cannot be caught if designed properly, or offer them a fast low profile (nearly never scanned) Krait (mkII or Phantom).

Those are far better people smugglers imo.

Her's another Orca build I use

The first build I posted is primarily for just doing Passenger one-way Transport Missions.

This build is more for Sightseeing runs. It can also easily be stripped down a bit and modified for Exploration or Materials Collection.

The Orca is incredibly versatile and one of the most fun ships to fly. You have to adapt a bit to it as the Yaw rate is so good compared to other ships that you really have to fly it a bit differently to get the most enjoyment out of it.

About the only things it's not exceptional at is PvP and Cargo hauling.

If you want to do Bulk Passenger missions, build an Anaconda with all First Class cabins - enough to haul 54 passengers - the max you'll see for Bulk Transport.

A Python can also be used very well for passengers and here's one specifically designed for and left parked at Robigo:

If you practice landings that are near 200 m/s you'll never get scanned at stations. They just don't react that fast. You don't need to boost or panic, just come in under control at around 200 m/s.

I second the call for a Krait. Either one but I'd use the Mk II because you may want to learn to use an SLF. GL HF
