Help with landing at planetary coordinates

I suck at landing at a specific set of planetary coordinates. I know now to interpret latitude and longitude, I simply lack the flying skill of staying on course. Any pointers are appreciated. Also, being able to rotate on the horizontal axis, would be helpful. As I do not have a joystick where you can twist on the shift to perform this maneuver, is there a hotkey mapping for doing a rotation whist hovering? This would also be useful docking at stations.

Best advice I ever got was to focus on one at a time. First navigate to your latitude (ignoring longitude) and once you've reached correct latitude, turn 90 degrees and head for correct longitude making sure you don't stray off your latitude.

OK. I used EDISON to get close enough (thanks again), so that Jameson's crash site appeared on the scope. One last question... The rumor is that once I scan the target, namely Jameson's ship itself, the site will always be on the navigation panel for this particular planetary body, whenever I return. Can anyone confirm this?

Never mind...I just did it. The target is still there.
