Newcomer / Intro Help with lucrative trade

Hey all..

I have been running some lucrative trade missions for a week or two, and all the sudden today the missions are all zero/none availalble.

Any idea what happened? The system was offering 10-12 missions that were pretty good medium distance runs for boom data and trade cargo, and now zilch, out of nowhere.

What happened?

Any suggestions on where to go to find better than 10-20k trade runs?

Take a look at the state of the faction controlling the system. Sounds like they have gone into lockdown. This stops all missions, and closes the commodity market. You can do some bountyhunting in the system to cancel the lockdown.

The system is probably Bust, in Civil War, lockdown or the minor faction you were trading with deposed by another.

You should explore a bit, if I told you that trade runs far in excess of 20k exist even for a Cobra that should give you some motivation. I'd encourage you to find your own as it will be more rewarding for you in the long run. Try also to have a plan B so you are not too reliant on any one source and the fact it can be shutdown at anytime by the simulation or FDev if they so choose.

Hi, yes, the system is indeed in a lockdown, but no bounties are being offered.

While exploring to find a system that is lucrative might be rewarding in the long run, it would also be rewarding in the short run to have a bit of advice from those more experienced on finding some. It's very hard being new, and poor... If I had 200 mil credits in the bank to rely on then exploring and finding my own way would be much more rewarding, but when you're new and have very little, it's not quite as much fun as you make it sound.

Limping along to just randomly hit system after system, and docking at station after station to find something, when others have some good ideas, is a little frustrating. And as I said, this game is infuriatingly frustrating for newbies as it is.

I agree on not having just one source. I've been in the game 3 1/2 weeks... so how about helping me out with PM'ing a system or two to explore and check out? :) Pretty please?

And rather than posting on here, so the UA bombers can see it, maybe PM a few decent systems? They don't have to be your ultra-best gold systems where you're running 2-5 mil credit missions, but toss a guy a bone to help him out a bit? :()

Or if not that, then how about teaching me how to find a system that could be good. Where to start looking? Close to other systems or far away? Towards the center of the galaxy or out on the rim? IN the center of the bubble or around the edge? IN a system in chaos or civil war, or boom or bust or ...... What are clues to look for that indicate a system may be more likely to give out high value, lucrative missions?

Hi, yes, the system is indeed in a lockdown, but no bounties are being offered.
Bounties don't get offered, you kill wanted ships and then claim the bounty in the Contacts menu at the station. If the controlling faction is Anarchy ships won't be wanted, so there will be no bounties to collect.

Oh, and one more thing....
Before posting here, I spent 11.5 hours researching an answer to this on my own. I read through hundreds of forum posts on this site, searched through this site, googled the web and searched and searched. But because searches are both so maddeningly abundant and non-specific, I can hardly ever find anything that answers what I'm really looking for. For example, if you search for "elite dangerous what's a good ship for mining." you'll get all kinds of wiki posts on mining and youtube vids about mining, but unless you read through 300-400 posts you wont find one that says..... you need a ship with shields vs. pirates, mining lasers AND offensive lasers plus mines to defense. you'll need the biggest bins you can get, plus you'll want compartments for prospector limpets, other limpets, etc.. so the XXX ship has all these slots and would be a good start."

I always try to help myself first, but it's super challenging.

How about you guys PM me some solid advice on what I can do, instead of what's not working or just generic advice. This is a newbie forum right? So help me learn, PM me some starting points to look for or move towards or something.......
