Help with mapping Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas v2 Joystick and Throttle

I have downloaded the Combat Tutorial (have pre-ordered Mercenary version) and have dug out my old Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas v2 but I can't figure out how to map the controls in the Combat Tutorial.

Also running Windows 8.1, so will I need to use the THrustmaster SW to map the keys etc. ?

Advice and help appreciated.

No need for Thrustmaster software to set up. Should just need to config controller. But a driver should probably be installed. Find one on the interwebs.

When you have it installed, these are my tips:

Step 1. Set the switch on the underside of the stick to "PC"

Step 2. Make sure the little "home"-button with the house on your throttle is green, not red.

Step 3. Play around with the controls and change settings until you feel comfortable. There is no right answer to a perfect setup. Personal preference.

Tip 1. I use the twist handle to roll, and left-right stick to yaw. Many choose the other way around. Personal preference.
Tip 2. You can set shift buttons. This means that button 9 on the throttle, together with e.g. button 2, will trigger a different action than button 2 alone. Very very handy. Just press both buttons when assigning the action. Make sure though that your preferred shift key(s) are not assigned to anything when pressed alone. I use buttons 9 and 10 as shift buttons. This way I have both thumbs ready for a lot of different combinations, because there's where the most buttons are placed.

This way I don't need anything on keyboard really.

Some of my choices as of now (it's always a work in progress):

Throttle paddle: left/right UI HUD
Thumbstick up/down/left/right - Lateral thrusters
button 9 + thumbstick - Divert power to systems/engine/weapons

Good luck!

Leave one button spare as a "Shift button" gives you instead of 11 buttons 2x10 buttons
BTW try a search lots of threads on mapping the T-flight

Good tip about the "shift" button.

I have used the throttle paddle for forward/backward thrusters and the buttons on the side for the UI panels.
The hat on the stick i use for thrusters in flight, and navigating the UI when active.

Love the fact the it has a detent at mid throttle. Perfect if you have to have a full range throttle, but also perfect s at half throttle its the best speed to super cruise not to overshoot.

As you said all personal preference.

I use voice attack as well for managing the power distribution and all sorts of other functions
If you don't used voice attack, check it out

When you go into the control options
Click on a control to define it ,then hold the button you have defined as your shift button.
Then press another button and relates them both.
Should see something joy1+pov2 in the control definition

Don't assign a funtion to your shift button by itself. Otherwise you might get some unexpected results

Quick question on the back of this comment - if you use Voice Attack for managing the power distribution, what do you use the four buttons on the side of the throttle stick for? I'm interested to know other peoples configurations.

I am intent on buying a T-Flight Hotas x, which will be my first Joystick since a Saitek Cyborg evo used for IL2. Will have to see what setup is right for me, but keen to know how other people configure theirs.

Thanks

T Flight great Hotas for around 50 bucks, Use twist for Yaw for for tuning precision aim, voice attack is really handy for power management and other functions,
I use headtracker for UI panels, 4 buttons on side throttle use for Supercruise, deploy weapons, Cargo Scoop, Landing gear just in case voice attack command fails not to often but does happen
Thinking on the Thrustmaster warthog but 500 bucks fair chunk to pay out

Hi I'm new to Elite, PC gaming and HOTAS well pretty much everything. I was hoping someone could help me.

ive just bought elite and a Thrustmaster T flight and the game keeps telling me even though I'm using the Thrustmaster option in the controls setting that landing gear is not mapped. I don't understand how the remap works and tried using custom bindings from the forums and can't get those to work either

please help!
