Help with multiple chaff launchers

I equipped my ship with dual chaff launchers. I only enable one at a time so that I conserve energy and so they don't fire at the same time (not sure if they will but logically it seems like they would).
Anyhow, I can only fire one chaff package and then I have to activate the second launcher. It will fire one package and then I have to revert back to the first. They will only alternately fire instead of exhausting the first before switching to the second. Does anybody have a solution to this problem?

I don't necessarily need a second but like to stay in the res for a couple days before exiting to collect my bounty.
I have only exhausted a chaff launcher once so its not like I use them a lot, but they are nice when a wing of NPC is hassling me whilst taking out an Anaconda before SysAuth does.

None of this is needed. The point of having dual chaff launchers, is to avoid the blackout period before your chaff launcher can fire again. Simply turn them both on, and bind a trigger/button/key to fire chaff via the controls options. You don't even need to put them in your fire group. Only ONE at a time will fire, and they will automatically alternate. Just hit one when you need it and you're good. If you can only power one at a time, you have to leave one powered off until the first runs out of ammo, then switch which one you have powered on. This should work fine, but you will have downtime during the reloading process.

Really? Using the keybindings would only deploy 1 at a time even if both are powered? Does this work with heatsinks and shield cells?

Thanks CMDR Holycow, Yeah, I figured I would try it and found out what you described. Works fine and I'm still within power specs.
Thanks for the feedback everybody...I should have tried it before posting.

No, experimentation will be costly soon. So you should get used to having to ask for advice on these convoluted mechanics.

I know it's an old thread I reanimate but I found this good information.
I never knew that the modules would alternate themselves if all were powered I just assumed they would follow the same mechanic as shield cell batteries. Both Heatsinks and Chaffs will be nose useful in duplicates. Great info!
