General / Off-Topic Help with pny website. Can't access.

Hello, I'm trying to access pny's website and getting a msg about security and that it's not accesible. Can anyone else access it or know if it's not being attacked or something that makes it dangerous for me to access. I think I can use the advanced features but it says it's not usable atm from both mozilla and google chrome.

is anyone else getting this messege?

I haven't been able to contact them since my video card fan started destroying itself and I'm not sure if it's safe to bypass this and access it. It's been down for me for part of a week at this point.

my fan apparantly decided it was fun to destroy itself after getting a burning smell and then the fan got weaker and louder until it was, lets say, extremely noisy. Had to apply some singer oil to it to stop it. I think that means no warranty for something I haven't been able to do about it and no more elite for me potentially. Have to love this stuff. I've been trying to figure out what is going on with their site this whole time to no avail. I've only owned this card a year and it's going to die. And apparently the xlr8 has a lifetime warranty that you have to register for. It would be so nice if they made this more obvious. I am just now potentially finding out about it. This info is way to hard to find. I was able to breifly see their warranty page before this warning started happening and I couldn't use their website anymore. I can't find the box and can't figure out where it went to. I know I saved it purposely. I do with all computer related boxes. I have no idea what to do at this point. I think I'm screwed.

I can't replicate your error on chromium
Chrome generates error.
You'll have to decide to continue or not using the certificate.

That gave me access to the site again. I wonder why that started happening... Either way, my hardware is probably screwed at this point. I had to follow a video to apply some oil to stop it from getting worse and I think my warranty may be out because of it and I'm screwed. Even though I had no choice about it. I literally had to do it to stop the thing from destroying itself further. 8\

Yeah as a user, the only way to access the site when this happens is to use some crap old browser that doesn't give a damn about security. :D

I was afraid to bypass and add an exception in case something weird had happened and their website was taken over. 8(

If you have an updated versions of Firefox or anything Chromium based (Chrome, Vivaldi, etc.) it won't even let you bypass it.
It's not democracy. When comes to expired certificates your freedom of choice consists of going somewhere else. :D

I just bypassed it with Chrome. Hit advanced, Proceed to bla-blah.

I stand corrected, then. It just shows that what I think of Chrome is correct.
I don't want to say something tin-foil-hatty like "datamining is more important to them than security of their customers", but... well yeah.

I only really use Vivaldi as a chromium family representative, so I'd assumed Chrome would be the same in this regard. :)

I'm just used to it as my personal webmail is powered by my own self-signed cert, so I need to bypass those warnings frequently.

You can override it in latest Firefox too, "add exception".

If you just want to access the site you can use the http version http://www.pny.com

I got the RMA started with them. Does anyone have experience RMAing with pny?

It might just be the wrong time of day, but their email auto responded. So, I'm assuming that is not the place to ask questions. Do they have a place to ask questions about the RMA process. I'm afraid to anger them with stupid questions(particularly in wrong locations).

1. Does their original box it came in count as a secure container for shipping? One of their warranties mentioned original packaging but I don't know if it is towards this product.
2. It wants a photocopy of the original reciept(to go in the shipped box for their RMA process/handling by the sounds of it.). I already emailed them the invoice from best buy's website to start the RMA. Is it likely alright to print out the same online invoice? I have yet to locate the original receipt physical receipt. I bought this online at best buy so it's I'm thinking this online invoice may count as proof of purchase for what they need. I'm assuming they just want a printed copy for how they deal with the process on their end.

I've never dealt with rmas before(computer or not) and didn't know I needed the receipt(original physical copy) for anything. All the documentation I have in alternative form if I don't need to photocopy the physical receipt that came in the mail. I have the electronic invoice because it's on best buys website. Which is printable.

Only problem is I'm out of printer ink and have been for many many years... 8\ Have to see if it even works at this point.

This is what their emails says.

Please write the RMA number clearly on the package in a visible location (either above or below our mailing address will be fine) and we will process your claim when the item arrives. I cannot give an approximate turnaround time, as it depends on the workload of the RMA department and UPS shipping and pickup times. Please do not ship the item in a regular mailing envelope or insecure packaging as the packages tend to tear, become damaged and cause loss of product in shipping as well as product damage. Please use secure packaging and padding in order to ensure the item will arrive to us safely and in undamaged condition. Items damaged in shipping will not be accepted and will be returned without replacement.



PNY does not cover the shipping of your item to our facility, nor do we provide a pre-paid shipping label. You must cover shipping to us, and we cover shipping on the replacement item that is returned to you. In order to safeguard yourself from lost packages, we highly suggest to use a shipper that provides tracking and signature confirmation as well as insurance.

IMPORTANT SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS:



1. Please either use the bottom half of the included document which contains the barcode and address (postage not covered) on the outside of the package or if not using the included documents please write the RMA and address clearly on the package itself; the upper half of the included document should be included on the inside of your package.



2. Please use appropriate shipping containers when shipping to PNY, Do not use Letter Envelopes or similar to mail your product to PNY they will not be accepted at the RMA facility.



3. A copy of the sales receipt or invoice, evidencing the date of purchase, along with the defective product must be included in the package.



4. RMA numbers are valid for 30 days, from date they are issued.



5. Shipping charges one way to PNY’s RMA facility are covered by the Consumer.

There is a status is obtained email adress, but I don't now if that is for questions or only getting a status on the process after they receive it.
