Help with Reputation

Hi All,

OK - I thought I understood the reputation system.

A few days ago I went unfiriendly with the Feds after shooting a Policeman. Fair enough, the Fed factions I had been working on still saw me as Neutral so I grafted for about 90 minutes, got myself to Neutral with the Feds, with a few factions - those that tend to be opposed to the factions I supported still unfirnedly.

Well last night, poor use of fixed cannons I shot another policeman Dropped back to unfiriendly with the feds.
I have complted about 30 missiosn for the Feds (I note there are few to none zero credit be nice ones being offiered). In my "home" system where the controlling faction is Fed and still neutral to me, I note on mission completion that the ex-friendly faction is still neutral and the "before this incident" fed faction is neutral. On the mission completion screen. I am still unfriendly with the feds.

I suspect the "Fed rep" is some sort of boundary on local faction rep - and you can only get rep through the local factions. Like that.

How do I recover to Fed whipping boy?

1) Keep on doing pro-fed missions.
2) Do I have to appease the faction I annoyed?
3) Something else?

All you can do is just keep grinding missions. Major faction reputation gain is very slow and very easy to lose. Just don't abandon missions or attack any other police craft and you will eventually build your rep back up.

Once you get a sol permit I suggest traveling there. That's where I stay and I usually get a lot of 'liberate slave' missions. Those really help with rep.
