Help with second window pls!

Myself and a friend have built a VR rig to run CQC at a party for some media folk. We can't get the second window to work :/ I had it working fine on my main rig.

Can someone take a look at the App config file to see what is wrong pls :) Main screen is a 52' LCD running at 1920x1080 second screen is the DK2

The second screen never shows up, frame rates just tank on the DK2.. We have two hours to get this working :(

<AppConfig>
<StereoExtraDisplay>
<Enabled>true</Enabled>
<Monitor>0</Monitor>
<Width>960</Width>
<Height>1080</Height>
<VSync>false</VSync>
<BehaviourIfStereoRenderDisabled>HideWindow</BehaviourIfStereoRenderDisabled>
</StereoExtraDisplay>
<Display>
<ScreenWidth>1280</ScreenWidth>
<ScreenHeight>720</ScreenHeight>
<FullScreen>false</FullScreen>
<VSync>true</VSync>
<PresentInterval>1</PresentInterval>
<Adapter>0</Adapter>
<Monitor>0</Monitor>
<DX11_RefreshRateNumerator>60</DX11_RefreshRateNumerator>
<DX11_RefreshRateDenominator>1</DX11_RefreshRateDenominator>
<LimitFrameRate>false</LimitFrameRate>
<MaxFramesPerSecond>30</MaxFramesPerSecond>
<!-- If you are looking for the SSAA setting this has moved in to Settings.xml in the save directory
** typically: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics.
** If this file does not exist you can generate it by entering the graphics options screen in game
** and hitting apply. You can then add <SSAA>X</SSAA> when X is the SSAA amount (1 by default) -->
</Display>

I don't see what's the problem here. By any chance do you have SweetFx as it is not compatible with this second window?

Some sweet fx files are in the Forcedev folder, I don't actually have sweetfx activated on this machine.. Should I remove all the files?

Cheers

Try to copy the Appconfig File to the other folders too... are you on steam? I had to copy it to ... Steamapps/Common/EliteDangerous/Products...

So I nuked the sweet FX files.. It still just opens in the rift as normal and DK2 frame rates are terrible :(

Could someone post a screenshot of the appconfig file, and a shot of the FORCE-FDEV folder (maybe I missed a file)

Worse case I will drive home and pick up my rig... The words 'Failing to prepare is preparing to fail' spring to mind.. :/

Steam is not installed on this machine, the machine was custom built for this event, they wanted to showcase VR and I foolishly agreed to help out, everything has gone smooth except for this second window.

Ok, make sure you change the right Appconfig Inside your Game Directory in Products. Also testserver, in case you want to play Beta! Then make sure you Setup your NVIDIA config right on this machine. Also try using the EDDS Display Switcher... Google it, you'll find it! Good Luck and much fun tonight!

Can't see anything wrong with yours, but here you go:

Edit: Stupid question, but are you sure you're running in the config tool in extended and not in direct mode? Just asking because not getting the second window and terrible framerates is exactly what I get when I do.

appconfig looks OK to me. Do you have an active icon on the task bar for the extra window once the game is up and running? If you do have one, it may be that the window is present but misplaced off-screen (which might explain the tanking DK2 performance).

For Win 8, alt-tab until the extra window has focus, then hit Win-Shift-Left Arrow to bring the window back to the main monitor (this assumes the DK2 is in extended mode and positioned to the right of the main monitor).

For Win 7, alt-tab to give the desktop focus then right-click on the active icon on the task bar for the extra window and select "Move". The mouse icon should change to a crossbar with arrows. Hit any of the arrow keys once and the window should jump to the main monitor.

Mate, you are lucky we are not in the same room together, otherwise I'd kiss you! You deserve a medal, and lots of Beer! You just saved the evening..

Thanks buddy
