Help with setup

Hi, I want to play Elite on my laptop but using my TV. The thing is my laptop will be out of reach so I need a cheap ish joystick/controller that can be programmed for all the keys needed to play. I have an Xbox controller but I don't think that has enough buttons etc. please could someone help with the controller search. Thanks a lot.
Steve.

My X52 just barely has enough buttons to do everything without touching the keyboard. Anything less and you will be using the keyboard.

On that note, you could get an inexpensive wireless keyboard with trackpad. Then get a Wireless Joystick and that will get you most of the way there if you want to play on your TV.

Or you can just get an X52 and a USB extension cord. Then all of your buttons will be at your fingertips on your X52 and you won't need the keyboard/mouse. :)

I use a Logitech extreme 3D pro. £45 and does everything I need it to :)

With the thrustmaster. Is there enough buttons or will I also need a keyboard? Thanks.

You can use modifier buttons if you run short, but you'll surely need either a keyboard (I use a small one between the stick and throttle) or VoiceAttack or PowerGrid for the extras

I personally use the keyboard for things like lights and all the stuff I don't need in the heat of battle
