Help! With these modified missions

I got a couple of slaves in my hold. I was on a mission to take them over to a station that would free them. But before I picked up the slaves I was waylaid at a USS by a pilot that said they would take the slaves instead.

I think I made a mistake here. I just ignored his suggestion and went to the station to free them. When I got there, there was no option on the bulletin board to finish the mission.

When someone changes the quest at a USS am I supposed to say no to them somehow?.. Maybe with a laser or something?

Sometimes it's difficult for me to tell if I've encountered a bug or if I'm just doing something wrong <sigh>.

Had same problems, but with "hunt the pirates" type missions updated to Hunt authority. I get that ED is not kind of those games like PRESS X TO WIN, but c'mon, it must be a little more "intuitive". I had failed like 5 missions because of updated missions. Why there is no option, if u want to accept updated or reject it. Is it working like it intended?
