Help with Thrustmaster T.Flight 4 bindings on PC

Hey,
I played a lot of Elite on PS4 using that joystick and everything was working great. I finally got a PC VR headset so decided to start a new save on PC.

When I go ingame, the control menu recognize my T.Flight 4 and setups the profile with the right name. However, once I get in game, the bindings are all weird. For example, jump drive is still mapped to J on the keyboard instead of being mapped to a button on the Joystick.

There's a lot of bindings that you can set in the game but something as basic as that should be on the stick... Especially for playing in VR, using the keyboard is not an option.

All the threads I'm finding on Google are to fix an issue where the game does not recognize the joystick at all which is not the case for me.

I have installed the latest drivers and updated the firmware to version 25.

I guess I could rebind everything manually following the bindings used on PS4 but I feel like if the game is recognizing the Joystick, it should also has the proper binding?

Anybody else had that issue?

Thanks!

my pc also does some weird things with the key bindings on the T.Hotus 4. Mainly the FSS tuning on the hotus rocker. Cant fine tune for nothing

It's not going to set your specific joysitck up. You have to do it yourself. Thank goodness, it recognized it. You're on the way. Just in case you might not know it, each function can be bound to 2 things, generally a key on the left and a joysitck button on the right, if you want duplicity. If you use VoiceAttack, you have to have a key for VoiceAttack to emulate.

Here's a pic:

You do know that you can have two assignments for each binding? So you can have J on the keyboard and a button on the HOTAS (on my secondary PC I use the HOTAS-X and have the button above the paddle for that). I am surprised the default has not got it assigned.

Thanks for the answers and of course I know I can rebind the mappings and have more than one per mapping...obviously.

I guess I just expected the game to at least have a functionning basic profile for one of the officially supported joysticks on the market. Especially since they already have the game running perfectly with the same stick on PS4.

I'm a huge racing sim fan and for the dozens of racing sims I have played over the years, if the game recognize my wheel properly (like Elite does with my Joystick) then it will give me a basic full working profile from the get go. Sure, I will most likely go back and tweak a few things to my liking but I would at least get a solid working fundation from the get go.

Bummer that Elite doesn't do that.. I guess I'll go in and remap everything manually.

Thanks for the help.

I have both the T-Flight HOTAS 4 and a Thrustmaster T 16000M FCS. In the OPTIONS screen, ED detects both in the drop down and will auto "program" HOTAS functions. AS for the the FSS using the paddle just adjust the sensitity or rebind to the "twist"axis of you joystick
