Help with uninstalling from original location (now downloading on Steam)

Hi all. I originally bought ED directly from the Frontier store several years ago, but have only recently started getting into playing it. I've now used my key to get it on Steam, where it's downloading a new version into a different folder. Would someone be able to tell me how I safely uninstall from the original location once it's finished downloading into Steam? Seems silly to take up disk space with two copies of an identical game. Thanks for any assistance.

Open up control panel, click on program features, if you installed steam, and the frontier's version, you'll see, steam and ED. Deleting the ED will eliminate frontier's version from your pc, it will still be available to redownload from frontier later. ED on steam is in a different directory so your good to go. Close out everything, click on steam, select ED and play.

Might be an idea to save the options and saved games directory trees before uninstalling.

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\

I don't know if the "Logs" directory in the EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-64 directory is worth copying too?

The slightly scary situation here is that I've just got one Elite Dangerous showing up in "Add or remove programs", and when I click it, it seems to be the Steam version. I could probably just delete the folder of the original install but that seems like a messy solution somehow.
