Help... Xbox One X turning off

I've never really ran into any problems playing Elite on my Xbox one X till now. Every time I go to load up Elite It gets to the home screen then before I can even do anything the fans ramp up and my xbox turns off. They've always spooled up before playing but now even after 20 attempts it just keeps turning off. I have checked the vents and they are clear but it just continues to switch itself off saying the xbox is over heating. No problems on any other game than elite and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and hopefully a solution. Thanks

Hi,

When did you buy it? Is it still under a warranty? Was it retail, or a traded in? (nothing wrong with either, just trying to gauge the hours it's ticked up)

How do you feel about the possibility of opening it up and replacing thermal paste, checking internals and so on? There's plenty of guides on youtube on how to best open one up without damage. You may need some specialist tools that are not expensive.

It would be symptomatic with overheating, the issue now is to try to establish why it's over heating. Then how to best resolve or overcome that. (y)

Cheers

Overheating, is my diagnosis too.
Usually can be fixed by checking the air flow is clear. Dust can collect around the vents and giving the area a brush and a vaccuum sorts that nicely. The power brick also has its own cooling intakes and exhausts, so make sure to check them too.
Hopefully, this is a quick fix for you.

Try to use a compressed air can and blow the dust away.
Some Vacuum Cleaners allow you to connect the hose to the exhaust port to blow air with pressure- if you have one you can use it to blow the dust out of the XB.

no matter the "blowing" solution, make sure you dont do it inside the house - take the blower and the XB outside or do it on the window/balcony

ED definitely runs the console hot. My fan is always ramping up to high speed whenever I play and almost immediately slows down as soon as I exit the game.

I guess this is my future then. Occasionally the fans kick in and the game freezes, often they go wild after Ive finished the game for some reason, like they been waiting to cool but didnt want to spoil the atmosphere.

I bought a reconditioned XB 1TB with 1 year gtee for a friend a few months ago (and a copy of ED ofc, that was the only reason really) and that works much better than mine does playing ED on the same wi-fi even, thats why Im more relaxed about blaming Frontier for everything, some of it is obviously hardware related at user end. If you clwan it and it works pls repost and I may just get the confidence to try it....knowing I can get a recon one if it all goes wrong.

Most likely dust has crept into your console and is stopping the cooler doing its job. If you are confident enough and dont have a warranty, you can crack the case and do a cleandown. Check youtube for guides.
