Help your community. Free Kamitra from Aisling Duval so cigars can be purchased for unlocking Hera Tani

Hello!

Very recently players representing the power faction Aisling Duval gained control of the Kamitra system. Upon doing so drugs became illegal in the system, which means that you can no longer purchase the rare good, Kamitran cigars, that are mandatory for unlocking the engineer Hera Tani and by extension engineering at a high level for power plants which is, needless to say, a pretty big deal. I personally had not yet unlocked her and you can imagine that finding out that I wanted to unlock her a mere two days after this stunt was a bit frustrating. With many new and returning players coming back thanks to the welcome improvements to the game we've been seeing lately there are plenty of players in this boat, shut out from progression. Rather than petition Fdev for changes, which would take time for them to consider, I want to see if we can lean into the tools already at our disposal to fix this situation ourselves.

I'm not about to put down the individuals who took control of the system for Aisling whatever the motives were. I'm reaching out to the considerable quantity of players representing any of the other 11 opposing power factions much like myself. If you're looking for somewhere to make a difference in the game while engaging in powerplay, I encourage you to kill two birds with one stone and also contribute to helping your community allow progression to be possible again for players who need to unlock Hera Tani and help throw Aisling out of the system. Though I would like to make the small request that if you want to go the extra mile and take control for your own power that you ensure they do not consider drugs illegal and perpetuate the issue. I'm going to be doing powerplay activities in the system to try and turn this around. I hope others can join me in a communal effort to keep progression accessible for all players. Fly dangerous

Hmmm... that would be strange, or a bug. When did this happen? Usually, the legality depends on the minor faction controlling the system/station, not the powerplay status of the system. And that minor faction are The Winged Hussars - and if you are up against them, I'll wish you good luck and a long breath. As player factions go, they can mobilise some of the largest supporter bases in the game. But they have been in control of Kamitra for a long time...

Perhaps your best option would be via a diplomatic exchange of notes to inquire at the Winged Hussars whether this shortage of Kamitra Cigars was anything of their doing and if not, if they would be inclined to help you with this problem - it's their system after all, and other player factions would be very careful in stepping onto their toes without a good reason.

@rootsrat - is this shortage of cigars indeed a consequence of a powerplay move?
@Ian Doncaster - is such a thing even possible? Can a powerplay move, taking Kamitra out of the Disney Princes' control, restore the supply of cigars?

As I see in Inara, the only opponent right now would be... Denton Patreus 😡🤬

Ok, bonus question: can any power undermine in Kamitra, or would it need to be a power within control range?

It is a power play move, there are several open tickets for it in the issue tracker. Apparently the narcotics ban from AD doesn’t allow the cigars to be sold, then when she got control of the territory they stopped selling it due to that.

Removing her from the system is a doable thing, I actually liked that because it shows that power play is indeed shaping things up, but if that’s the case the cigars should become a black market thing and not stop being sold, just become more expensive.
