Help!!!....

OMG. I did that with something else. Didn't realise I couldn't rebuy if I'd sold. You might be in trouble... Are there any other stations within your current system to SC to?

You can rebuy if you sell by mistake. I think you get around 10 mins to buy it back. That's how people swap components between ships.

How much do you need to decrease your mass by to enable the jump? go to the outfitting screen and scroll down, youi can see the jump range increasing or decreasing bottom right

Dont fly drunk or onionheaded.

This will be lesson to OP, to not downgrade FSD ever. Go back to sidewinder sir.

Sounds like another person replaced the V12 engine in their Ferrari with a smart car motor.

If the system you're stuck in doesn't sell class 4 FSDs you'll have to self destruct and pray it gives you the option to revert back to a 4E FSD on the insurance screen.

You get the option to buy back hardware in "outfitting" - not sure at what point you lose that ability, though...

10 minutes I think, you won't make that jump in a Cobra with a D3 drive, no matter what you do, you'll have to buy another ship. (don't buy a Viper though, there basic jump range is about 6 Ly without an upgraded FSD)

I'm not sure it's 100% reliable. I had a stupid mission to get 4T of stuff from a place that sold it at the same station. I was loaded up with rares, so sold my Intermediate Scanner, bought a class 2 cargo bay, bought stuff, accepted mission, delivered cargo, went back to outfitting about 1 minute later, maybe less, and could only get the Basic Scanner. Was out in middle of nowhere using Exploration as an excuse to get my rares 120+Ly away from source, so had to jaunt backwards (rares decreasing in value as I went) to buy Intermediate Scanner again before heading out. Lesson learned!

check you have enough credits for insurance,if you have blow yourself up, (self destruct) oh and sell all your modules 1st.
or part ex for a sidey then go buy the cobra again

Not much you can do now. By stripping your system you can get +-4.3LY, but that isn't enough either. Check to see if there are other stations in your system, if not follow ChubbyBunneh's advice (sell all improved modules first!). Downgrading from 4E to 3D makes literally no sense by the way, the ship becomes essentially useless and you've received a mere 1000cr...

No, don't do that. You'll just come back in the same station with the same options, but poorer by the insurance cost.

NO class 4's to buy in station......
Does any station in the system sell ships? If you have the cash, you can just buy another Cobra and it will come with the stock FSD so you can leave. Sell your upgrades first before selling the ship and you'll be able to rebuy them if you haven't logged out or left the station. The T-6 will also have a class 4 engine that you could move to your Cobra (using the re-buy function). If the station doesn't sell either of those ships, sell your ship (remembering to sell upgrades first) and buy a Sidewinder to get yourself out of the system. Then rebuy the Cobra once you're out.

If no class 4 FSD's are available, I would sell all weapons, and non-essential equipment to try to lighten your ship so you can get to the next system. You don't have to have shields, discovery scanner, cargo modules, I'd even go to the lowest size fuel tank that will allow you to make the jump to the next system. This will all reduce your mass allowing you to jump further. You have to have thrusters, FSD, Life Support, power plant, distributor, hull plating, etc, but sell off what is not absolutely necessary. If you still don't have enough, the only thing you can do is self destruct and if it doesn't offer you the option of a class 4 FSD on the insurance screen, choose the sidewinder and start over. You'll have all the money you had before self destruct as the sidewinder is free.

I was a proper tool. Not sure how I did it but I screwed up my ship fit...... You live and learn. Thank you all for your help...
