helpful advice for a new guy please

When I started out with my Epic account I did the following:
In the starter zone I ran a courier missions to get 100k or so
Then I added a size 1 or size 2 fuel tank to the base sidey
I upgraded all possible modules in the starter zone to D or E
I had one pulse laser and one multi cannon
Like the above posters I went to the Low, then Medium, then High resource extraction site(s)
Follow the security services ships, when the fighting starts wait until the 'wanted' ships target shields are down and the hull is 40% or less. (Always wait to see wanted or clean before shooting, and then only shoot wanted ships.)
Shoot or 'tag' them just before they die
The bounty will flash on screen, the top right amount is lower than what you should get for a bounty as an fyi
I did the above until I had a million or two and then I bought a hauler and setup it up for Road to Riches and did that for awhile
Good luck and have fun

I reset two of my three accounts recently and was quite shocked at how restricted I was again, it’s easy to forget when you’ve unlocked everything and got billions in the bank.

My advice is simple and in two parts. 1) Try to enjoy this learning process despite the dreadful 1E power distributor or dinky cargo racks. You can’t recapture that frustration, growing understanding and eventual knowledge and it’s a brilliant part of the game (particularly when you look back on it;)) 2) Listen to advice in The Newcomers Forum, the regulars there have a knack for explaining things simply and without adding extraneous information, I’d have given up within weeks without explanation and encouragement from that forum.

If it helps your morale; my main (and first ) account has around 35-40 rebuys on it and I think around 30 of those were from mistakes, misunderstandings and brain fades in the first few months of playing and I wouldn’t change them for anything. I remember all the splats into planets, the out of control spinning to my death in a station and even my first kill (which I still don’t know how I managed.)

lol, Rock Hunter, that reminds me of my first time flying into a station in FA off not really knowing how long it might take slowing down inside and what happens if I add that large break vector in a slightly wrong angle  and then finding the correct landing pad in time 🥵while floating around in weird directions . But it's still fun and made me want to learn it.
