Helpful tips from a Newb Pilot (couple days)

I say while docked wondering how I could enable mouse look/head look while docked. In the meantime I noticed two different player ships boost into the side of the station. One a Cobra. Oh man!

Please set up your thrusters and use them to maneuver and dock and get off that throttle! Also adjust your boost key so that you don't hit it unexpectedly. I learned from experience. :p

I have always been a die-hard joystick fan BUT Im a leftie and i found a lot of the stick-throttle combos are for righties only. My left-ism is quite extreme and i my right hand control of a stick sucks.

So i bit the bullet and got a joypad for elite - just a fairly cheap one with two thumb sticks. This has been pretty good. Im still getting used to it tho. dog fights are hard but overall control is good especially as i have roll pitch on left thumb. lateral/vert thrusters on right thumb. Makes my E&E manouvers a bit more tricky!

I certainly find it much easier to use a gamepad :)

I tried a joystick on it, but that was a disaster! I've never been fond of using joysticks. I just don't feel that I have the same control as I do with a gamepad. I suppose it's a personal preference thing :)

you can set it up so keybindings are different when you put the landing gear down, using this feature you can give yourself some added control and even remove boost from the configuration while your gear is deployed.
