Helping Aisling Duval by doing combat

Hi,

Is it possible to help Aisling Duval by doing combat?

I have pledged for Aisling Duval. Yesterday i flew to a Arissa Lavigny-Duval controlled system and found the text "Undermine Lavigny-Duval's hold by stealing Lavigny Garrison Supplies from Imperial Supply vessels operating in this system. Deliver them to contacts in our control systems.". Fine, I killed a Imperial Courier hoping to get some credits from Aisling Duval. I got "wanted" in that system, which is fair enough as I shot a Arissa Lavigny-Duval vessel in a Arissa Lavigny-Duval controlled system. I ended up with this reaction "As a member of Aisling Duval aggresive act towards our own member are not tolerated as a result you have lost 10 merits".

Why?

I have my own theories:

  • The vessel was not a Arissa Lavigny-Duval vessel. It was an Empire vessel and therefore as much a Aisling Duval vessel. The vessel had a Clean status.
  • I may not kill vessels. I should steal from them instead. How do I do that?

Bump.
I am thinking about joining PP and my favourite systems are between Aisling and Arissa space.
I don't care much for carrying propoganda, supplies or contracts. If I join Aisling, can I hunt for 15 merits? Who should I target and in which systems?
Can't find the thread that had the nice table what you could do for each of the powers...

Undermining pirates worked well for me. Well, at least untill i got tired of blowing up defenceless transport ships...

Your second thought is the correct one. For all Powers if you want to undermine Powers of the same major faction (ie. Empire) you need to pirate them and steal their cargo. Not kill them. Best way to do that is to use subsystem targeting to target their cargo hatch or us hatch breaker limpets which are less likely to accidentally destroy the ship. You will be on a listed, as you noted, fir ship destruction.

However! If you go and undermine a Power of another major faction then the task is to destroy their ships. So, fir example, Kumo Crew Transports for Archon Delaine or Federal Couriers for Felicia Winters.

Granted at the moment there's no official sanction for undermining for Aisling followers so you do so at your own risk and discretion.

Thanks for the anwers. I have been shooting down ships in Ennead system which is controlled by Felicia Winters - 15 merits each.

Me too, in Wolf 906 (Hudson) and a Winters control system whose name I can't remember. It can actually get more exciting than before when they call in reinforcements. Previously, when you interdicted a wing, the other wing members would just sit there and do nothing. No you can end up fighting 4 npcs so it's a bit of a challenge. The nice thing is that it's not predictable.

And all this being pledged to Aisling of all powers.

Hi,

Open the Galaxy Map, switch to PP view and change to control systems view of a close distance Rival faction.
Hover over a close control system (one with the Shield) and click on the Power view, in the "undermine" section you want "Destroy <insert target>", all you need to do is fit an interdictor, fly to that system and destroy the targets for 15 merits each (they are listed under your "transactions" tab) you can also destroy other factions Patrol ships here for 15 merits also (eg Federal Agents + Kumo Crew Watch if you are Empire aligned).

It's a very time efficient way to gain merits, i usually position myself behind the nav beacon facing the nearest port so i can interdict the ships as they appear, occasionally you'll get 3/3 Wings come after you which is 45 merits if you can handle them :)
Bear in mind you need to cart them back to a friendly control system to cash them in so dont overstretch yourself, and you will incur a local bounty in the system you are undermining.

Yesterday I took a trip to Wolf 906 and killed a couple of Hudson's ships. A real player in a Vulture interdicted me. Fair enough as I was wanted in that system. I was so surprised, I forgot to distibute all power to weapons and tried to use my frameshift interdictor as laser and did more stupid things. In the end I managed to get away.
