PvP Helping Ed Lewis Get Good!

Ed, we all saw your plight in todays stream.

You tried valiantly to avoid the interdiction but lets be honest, you could have escaped that Vette so easily!

First lets look at your flying.

You flew straight and boosted. That only works 100% of the time on NPC's

Fly evasive, fly at the vette and boost past it. Wiggle Wiggle!

But mainly, you need a better build of ship.

If you are going to fly in Open, you need to fully embrace the emergent content that is engineering. Get grinding!

All you need is a 140% drives and you would have out boosted that Vette at around 470!

Getting a 140% Dirty Drive, should only take you around 1-2000 rolls in some cases.
There is a lot of fun to be had finding the CIF, Cadmium and Pharma Isolators.
Might make a super exciting future stream?

You have already joined the GGS. Please just ask and everyone will be there to help!

Ed usually only streams for a hour or so, there will be hundreds of super exciting streams to gather the mats for a 140% dd roll.

But seriously, it would be nice if we could see people escaping ganks during the official streams, it really isnt that hard.

100%

Seeing FDEV employees actually good at their own game, would be so so good!

Can you imagine how exciting a stream would be if a ganker tried to get Ed and Ed turned around and sent the guy packing.

I feel you Ed, this was totally uncalled for, it is as though there are some who want to spoil others fun. When I get frustrated by being ganked, I head down to Everate and dish out some payback of my own (they are not too difficult to kill in Everate, as most are in Sidewinders).

Does Ed know he can exit from the game in combat?, it takes 15 seconds but it might have saved him.

(here is the vid 50 minutes and 56 minutes in, so we can all note the the perpeTRATOR).

Dear Edward,

maybe it's time to drop the pretense that it's important to have your streams in Open. Since you're live streaming, there will always be little people who go 'hyuk, hyuk' and need you as a vehicle to get the attention they so dearly desire. Find a friendly private group, and there you will be able to actually interact with other players, instead of interaction through rebuy screen. If you take the OP's advice, the streams will just descent into one interdiction after the other.

So, get into a PvE group and experience the joy of player interaction!

See you there!

Love,

Ziggy.

Ha, even fdev employees understand that this is not how this game is supposed to be played. Your wet dream is to see him play in Mobius, not going to happen, Mobius is just another private group, you can pvp there btw, we saw it in the charity streams.

Giving up playing open would send out a bad message... It would be better if they improved at the game tbh. Why don't they organise a decent defence wing? (I'm sure SDC would be up for it ;) ...what? too soon? )

edit:

Didn't realise I was in the PvP section. My post doesn't really belong there, so I asked it to be removed. I've removed the text, but it's quoted twice, so a fat lot of good that'll do :)

So sorry, carry on!

I can just see that as a message. Remember kids, every time you want to play for a bit, be sure to arrange a defense fleet around you! Yeah, that will connect with your average player.

But they're not your average players... every time they stream they are a prime target for hundreds of pvpers. They either need combat players defending them (this would actually be cool), or need to outfit their ships better.

The argument that I have seen that this shouldn't happen in Open streams or Open is bad etc are basically forgetting the point that this is LIVE and SNIPABLE!

Your redneck Hyuk Hyuk might be entirely accurate because it happens in every single game that is multiplayer and streamed by someone popular.
This is not an Elite or Open only issue.

You play a multiplayer game live on camera and people are going to want to mess with you.

Ed's streams are pretty dull, I mean he can be quite charming but what he does in the streams are pretty mundane.
Putting them into a private group would ensure that nothing bad happened to him but would also mean that nothing actually interesting would happen during the TV show.
Ed's getting ganked, brings in viewers!
His numbers currently aren't that high and only peak when they talk about upcoming features.

Firstly, it's pretty straightforward to escape a 1v1 or a 2v1 even if you're not in an over-engineered beast machine. Just gotta know some basic evasive flying and how to highwake. The rest is all about staying cool under pressure. I feel sorry for the devs and Ed every time I see them unable to avoid the rebuy screen for lack of a few simple things they could be doing.

And if a lack of engineering on their ships really is the problem because they're coming up against uber engineered monstrocities, well then perhaps the devs can finally see what they've done to their own game with 2.1 onwards. You reap what you sow and all that. Maybe it will act as incentive to make gathering mats less of a pointlessly massive time sink so that more players and the devs themselves can partake in it.

Secondly, they really could try and organise a player defense wing. Call it "Defense Against the Dark Arts" or "Edz Skull Crackers" (would make for some cool decals that one) or something else fun. Ed and the devs aren't just some average anonimous players out there when they are streaming. They attract as much attention as the Queen of England would if she took a stroll down Trafalgar Square. Therefore they aren't really representing the average player's experience in Open. If anything they're representing a celebrity player's streaming experience in Open.

P.S. I see no reason why your post wouldn't belong here Ziggster. It's a free forum after all. The PvP section is no more and no less a "members only" club than the rest of this forum :)

Baby steps, lets get ed to survive first. Then we can work on ed's offensive pvp skills. :)

Step 1: Get that pip out of weapons and into systems.
Step 2: If you are going to lose the interdiction, submit.
Step 3: Dont fly in a straight line.
Step 4: Put chaff on your ship and use it.
Step 5: You are getting streamed sniped by a corvette while in a dbx. Use that jump range and on your 2nd jump, go out 40lys or whatever so they have to jump multiple times to catch up. When they show up, head back to your original destination. They wont be able to keep up.

EDIT: And not many people like doing it, but engineer the ship. The person attacking most certainly has.

Has there ever been a stream of FDEV doing engineering? The real life part of unlocking engineers and collecting mats?

I think they have shown Ed doing it, but only in small amounts due to the incredible excitement generated while grinding and rolling it.

What I would give for an employee of Fdev to actually demonstrate that they have even the barest baseline of competence at the mechanics of this game.

Bit harsh that imo, remember that Ed was playing on the PS4 so may not of had a ship capable and modded up to withstand the interuptions he had.

TBH, those that decide to have a got at him whilst knowing that there's live streaming for the benefit of all players is imo a bit c**p.

There's a reason for the live streams and that's to impart knowledge and not to have some phalus try gain some cred (noted that destroying Ed has no effect on ED whatsoever and you are known as being said phalus).

There are many people out and around the world who look for hints and tips and general knowledge with these broadcasts so I ask you folks, lay off and let these broadcasts continue unhindered ( at least until Ed's Got Gud).

V2k.

Not to be *that* guy but you notice something about this PvP forum?

No one from FDev posts here. In fact. I doubt they even look in here..

Why?
Because they don't like us. PvP is bad m'kay?

He DID escape the first interdiction. Which was fun to watch. But he then jumped to the same system. Before that he gave the ganker loads of time by announcing where he will pick up the commodities. So really it wasn't about engineering. He should be simply more secretive while streaming :)

Dev hunting is a popular sport in many open pvp games :)
