Here we go again thread or "you are replaying THAT...are you mad!"

So a thread on those games you are replaying. Maybe it's a bit of a dry period for new stuff and your stuck for something to fill the time between arguments with the wife/hubby/pet/yourself.

Maybe for second time maybe for fourteenth time.

You enjoying it just as much?

I'll kick us off with something fairly recent released.

middle Earth. Shadow of mordor

So I'm replaying this mostly because the second one is out in October. I remember mostly enjoying the first play through on release with the usual gripes about it being a little generic on the open world side. But otherwise a great game with lots of variety in combat.

This time round I seem to be enjoying it more which is sort of unusual for me. Normally when I try to replay most games they don't hit the same heights as the first time round. The thing with this game is that it's a little light on the story side I feel. What's there is good and feels "middle earth" leaning more on the film action feeling than the books of course. I just feel there could be more of it.

The open world side isn't grating on me as much as first time also. The setting doesn't change much at all it's all a bit well....Mordor. Dreary, Brown, and grey. Not awful looking at all and every now and then I'll see some scenery and it'll look amazing.

The nemesis system does of course exist in the game as a headline feature. I've only died twice to captains by stupid mistakes or whatnot and even then I've revenged myself straightaway. So I've not seen them morph into anything ridiculously powerful yet on this run through. This might be because I'm paying a lot more attention to the strengths and weaknesses of the orcs killing then more efficiently than first time.

Planning a kill is my favourite part of the game though. Going to the sauron army screen and getting that weakness info, then onto a high position to see what the environment offers to help me out.

Anyway I'm about to finish mopping up stuff in the first area and then it's time to move onto the second map.

The new game does look like it does much the same thing but hopefully there will be some more story and a few tinkerings with the gameplay where necessary. Looking forward to it.

I`m replaying my Dark Souls collection again, I honestly have no idea what playthrough is this, 10th maybe? Enjoin it tremendously of course, trying some new weapons and builds that I never used before. I usually play as heavy knight so this time is mostly dexterity based weapons. I dont think I will ever get bored of DS tuff.

No One Lives Forever and it's sequel are great games. Criminally lost in oblivion now as you say sadly. So funny and great gameplay.

Never got on with the dark souls games personally was just too nails hard for me :)

Since it seems Elite Feet won't be happening any time soon, I have been touring games Sci Fi themed games in hopes of assuaging my desire to get out of the chair.

Dead Space 1 + 2 (rather bounced off 3) are great. The zero g stuff is wonderful. Although I kinda just want to go on a mining mission without all the messing about with zombies.

Red Faction Guerilla is fab, and still the best (only?) choice for sci fi GTA action on an alien world.

Currently playing Lost Planet 3. Much fun and so far very in keeping with (what I percieve to be) the feel of Elite, with freelancers taking jobs for shady corps. Man, a current gen open fully world version would be *wonderful*.

I played both of them many times, great games indeed. I especially like the sound design in Dead Space 1 and 2 it really creates amazing atmosphere. Plus second game has a very cool variety as far as level design goes - the Unitology Church and recovered Ishimura are fantastic.
I did played DS3 but its not scary - its a action game at best with idiotic romance story, EA as usual f it up. Shame because some parts of the game were actually very cool.

I like you vasea we have similar tastes in games. But yeah Dead Space 1 2 and 3 for me were great games. Replayed those many times also. I'm not really a fan of jump scare games, and there's a fair bit of that in this series but I couldn't pass up the setting and atmosphere. The story is pretty standard fare for the genre but it's well told. I loved the video and audio logs especially telling you about various side stories.

Makes me want to replay right away. Was a good shout there Useless Thing.

Also, I recently got my hands on really cool DS 1 mod called Randomizer. It basically randomizes all pick-able loot, mob drops, vendors items in game, and your starting equipment. You can also choose if you want more fair item distribution or more challenging one. Now the real fun is self challenge - you MUST pick up every loot item you spot during your game play and equip is as your main weapon/armor/item. This means if you are lucky you will pick up good stuff for your character, or end game ones that you cant even use with your current stats - in this case you need to avoid baddies and grab another loot in hope for good "roll". Its amazingly fun but also.... ehm can be infuriating when you out of luck :)

Maniac Mansion & Day of the Tentacle once a year.
Original Master of Orion bi-weekly.
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri once a year.

Got a Commandos collection recently, ran through all of them. First three were splendid tactical games. Maybe it's nostalgia talking in me, but they don't make games like this anymore :)

I love the secret of monkey island. Played it through many many times.

Just finished an Alpha Protocol run through, just starting a Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines run through. Buggy as hell but still fun :)

I tend to replay S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl a lot, but considering the amount of different mods there are it could be seen as almost a different game some times.
I used to replay the Dark Souls series a lot, but I think I've finally dried up what I can enjoy doing with them.
I will replay TIE Fighter at least once a year 'til i die or it stops being compatible with my OS systems in all likelihood.
I keep trying to do stupidly hard achievements on Nuclear Throne, but again I'm not sure if "replaying" a roguelite counts. Similar feelings with Luftrausers, although ti's more challenge runs as I've got all the cheevos on that one.
I've been meaning to replay Dishonored again recently and finally do a high chaos run so I can allow myself to play with the powers more rather than being Garret mk. II, but I also kinda wanna replay the old Thief games to remember how good and hard they were.

Yep the STALKER series gets a replay from me now and then. Usually the second one Call of Pripyat

I'm also a Call of Pripyat fan. Most atmospheric game I ever played. I wish Bethesda's game designers played CoP for a while before doing more Fallout games.

Also, every now and then I give Sid Meier's Pirates a spin, that game just never gets old, same with Transport Tycoon.

Totally agree. A lot of developers could learn a thing or two from STALKER. I like the metro 2033 game series though and the new one they bringing out could be the best yet! Keep a weather eye on that one. Surprised there wasn't anything about it from gamescom.

Sid meiers pirates WOW. That's one of my first games after system shock 2 and half life (my first pc games). Some memories of raging with the dancing thing for some reason :D
