Here we go again.. trying to look forward to this!

Woke up this morning to a great announcement. Considering the muck that's been coming out of elite recently this was a positive surprise.

With the limited information we have, looks like this game is a even combination between zoo tycoon ultimate animal collection, planet coaster and jurassic world evolution. Thinking about it all frontiers other modern park games are just begging to be added all together, and if frontier get the mix right, avoiding having only extreme features which are too hard or limit the game, this could be amazing.

Just in case its not clear, planet coaster is too minecraft extreme, zoo tycoon has zero enclosion customization, and jwe.. is a micromanagement game first, park builder second.

Sadly though after being really excited and let down by jwe, common sense says i shouldn't be doing it again.

Also there was no physical collections edition, so i won't be pleading to forums, customer support, everyone i had the chance, to, i'll just assume its not happening and wait for the the first round of patches and a sale. Its really sad that this is not a heated statement from my part, that's just how it is with frontier these days. I'll be waiting to act differently if frontier inspire me to do so..

PS. By change i finally got jwe over the easter sale. Frontier are the undisputed kings of bargin bin gems.

Yeah that's the whole point of recalibration. Noone wants to be let down :)
Well, personally, I'm excited. With JWE, I think they are really bound by Universal when comes to creativity, but if Planet Coaster is anything to go by when comes to amount of stuff Fdev can come up with, I'm not worried. It'll be fine. :)

Yeah i know. I am too, just checking myself from some undeniable history.

While i somehow seem to get along with all of frontiers modern games (even zoo tycoon), they have all been incomplete, held up by the refinement in what does make the final cut.

Its a curiosity of whether frontier will actually release a 100% whole game this time vs being personally excited by the concept. I think this just a function of people who have playing frontier games for longer though, for new players of course this experience doesn't count and they'll be amazing as they are for anyone first game in :)

I don't think it was universal that had problems. JWE would have been a classic had frontier decided to put in a palm tree brush, reskin the exact same guest ai from planet coaster, and put in cleaners and some recreation areas. I don't think universal mandates those. Btw, those have been seen all the planet zoo footage... hmmm....

Yeah I hear you.
That sneaky "oh, I kind of imagined it a bit differently" feeling is omnipresent in Frontier games.
But to be honest, I was never disappointed with any of them. There are things that could have been done differently, missing obvious features that should have been there,... but by and large, they're good games. The ideas and craftmanship is there. There are good people working at Frontier.
There is an inherent problem with Frontier's games - they tend to capture passionate fans with great ideas and wild imagination. That's why this forum is so great. But on the other hand, their skill will never keep up with our expectations. :)
Still, that being said, as far as content and customization go, Zoo does look closer to PlanCo rather than JWE which is a good sign.

Yeah it just takes that one or two things to make you also see the gaps as well as the good. For me it was their community management approach for elite dangerous.. you cant find a colder, impassive, wilfully ignorant approach applied to a really passionate community. Though given jwe and planet coaster don't seem to have active communities of the size of elite that's probably saying something.

Anyway, yeah the fact that its named "Planet" zoo instead of the other way around could imply it will be more planco.. should be really interesting to see how it turns out. Im pretty sure the barrier for me with planet coaster was not caring about classic theme parks at all.. building a zoo environment and enclosures absolutely.

I really hope they get it right.

I'm sensing tension in regards the Elite dangerous. I unfortunately can't share this sentiment. My interaction with ED devs was always pleasant and I can't name any instance where they would act impassive or ignorant.
The fact that our wishes for the direction the game should be going don't always line up with the direction they chose to take don't mean they don't listen to us.
More often than not players' wishes resulted in an added feature.
The problem is that community itself is sometimes quite close-minded and short-sighted the saying "Be careful what you wish for or you may actually get it" applies.
Plus there's this problem with "community" not actually being just one voice and one wish. Everybody wants something different and you can't please all.

I understand were you're coming from. It absolutely is its not a problem until it happens to you. I thought everything was upstanding for years until it finally came around to my turn. Thinking about it, its not unnatural given frontiers zero acknowledgement one view approach to what they do. Its only really a mismatch in expectation, generally for all other paths of life, support and fondness typically gets returned in some way, either by mutual respect or in terms of games awesome amazing content / updates. Its probably fronter aren't doing either enough to meet the passion, and some people just have to readjust :p Better than getting bitter and turning to doom anyway.

But its just a thing, real but not that important given video games. Good to look forward as well.
