Honestly, I'd be surprised if we are done with the Thargoid war.
I'm really, really surprised that, after Odyssey was released - focusing on FPS gameplay - it turned out that there's been absolutely no FPS Thargoid combat, despite the thargoid war being the in-game narrative for 2 years and there being all sorts of hints about hybrids and zomboids.
I dunno if FDev did originally intend to introduce some kind of FPS thargoid combat but then changed their minds for some reason.
Maybe, with the chaos surrounding the launch of Odyssey, and then, perhaps, they discovered something that'd make FPS combat hard to implement, so they just decided to shelve it?
It's kind of telling that, despite having, erm, Odyssey, we still don't have any proper "interior" gameplay.
Sure, we've got "structures" on planets and we've got FC/Station interiors but it's all a bit rudimentary.
Point being, I wouldn't be surprised if FDev have got a bunch of half-finished Odyssey-related content in the pipeline and it's possible they've limited the Thargoid war to well-established ship-based content in order to free up people to work on that... which might mean the thargoid war could enter a new phase when that stuff gets finished.
As for colonisation, I've seen far too many releases of new things in ED to have high expectations.
At the risk of sounding a little harsh, I think FDev are going to keep quiet about it, do the minimal amount of work on it, delay it repeatedly when they encounter issues and then, ultimately, release an MVP product which will receive mountains of criticism... and then (much like Odyssey) they'll start working to turn it into what it should be.
