Heroes of the Storm E-Sport scene effectively killed by Blizzard.

Blizzard has always been slow in releasing games. Honestly, who cares if they release some mobile thingy in the meantine. I simply wont play it. There, drama fixed.

Well, but that's not the point, is it.

The point is - Blizzard created a cash-grab of a game, trying to hop on the MOBA trend that died in the meantime and when it was a financial failure, they are abandoning it in a pursuit of even sillier project. They WON'T make another good game.
It's not a drama. Actually it's pretty fun to watch as someone whose last Blizzard game was Diablo 2.

I haven't paid Blizzard much attention since the mid-90s. I think the original [i[Diablo[/i] was the last game of theirs I enjoyed enough to want to play more than one sitting of, though I did watch all of the Diablo II cutscenes on Youtube.

The original Diablo games were groundbreaking and fantastic fun. The more recent iteration was an appreciated release, but maintained the dated POV of the original. If there was a "jump the shark" moment, the mobile phone version was certainly it.

People naturally get attached to franchises and it is unrealistic to assume they won't be disappointed when they falter. Clearly there's a bit of schadenfreude going on here.

It is a bit odd that there are sports tournaments for games with an build in limited lifespan they don't really need to have. These games with characters instead of roles are designed to generate a lot more investment of the audience and players through backstories for example. They won't even be able to organise something small for themselves, if the servers will be shut down.
