Hey FD, ever wondered why nobody does piracy missions?

Wondering if the civil liberty state could countering the spawning of the nefarious mission types?

I would think the oppersite
People in a sense of security in an investment economic state
Should be ue prime time to plunder laxly guarded goods ships laidened with all the expensive luxuries people buy.

And successful piracy ruining those states

On Piracy and liberation missions
Do the targets still carry lots of non mission target cargo that can clog up the cargo hatch a d hatch breakers so you run out and reduce the cargo hatch to 0% before the mission targets fall out?

Now, I know that at first seems bad but I think you're observing the real affect of the bgs. Thast faction is in investment and civil liberty states. That means an economy that is investing back into the system. So naturally there will be haulage missions. Trade is the side effect of investment states. The civil liberty states is saying that everyone is relatively safe....So not much need for combat missions or bounty missions. And the influence level is below 50% so there won't be as many missions as if it were higher.

Yes that applies, but the governing faction only offering three missions is my point.
Mission generation is bugged.
Also the BGS should not completely overrule the faction's alignment.
Even if there is an economic boom, there are still the day to day contracts
to be taken and fulfilled.

See for yourself here:

Bring those missions up to speed with the rest of the game,
as was requested multiple times please.
Piracy still has the awful time brackets,
also you ask us to do bulk piracy on a specific target.

Instead allow us to do bulk piracy with the depot feature,
steal the stuff ourselves and help us with designating several
larger bulk transport as mission relevant targets.

Then add a high ranking mission, to steal from a single
specific transport or convoy, which has high value items
with low amounts asked for and carried around,
like 2 Tons Hafnium 147.

Additionally, make smuggling missions have the depot feature too,
you are locking smaller ships out of the game and keep mission types
completely neglected that cater towards criminal roles.

Let's be honest, the entire mission system needs a major overhaul, now that the features of the Beyond Season have been added in-but piracy is clearly one of the highest priority ones. Even the Liberation Missions-though do-able now-are somewhat lackluster in their presentation. I think the suggestion of making most Piracy Missions more like Massacre Missions (only you're stealing from, not killing, the targets) is an excellent one. That way you could have Piracy missions that don't care *what* you steal, only that you steal X Units of Commodities from Ships belonging to <Faction Name>, missions where they want a specific commodity-from any Faction other than the mission giver's one, & ones that merge the former two-a specific commodity from a specific faction. A High Ranked Piracy Mission similar to Liberation Missions also makes a ton of sense. <NPC Name> is carrying vital Military Intelligence on behalf of their Faction. Stealing that Intelligence could give us a massive leg-up in our current Civil War with <Faction Name>.

Anyway, great ideas there, & its great to see us back on the same page again ;).

Last time I tried a pirate mission it was nothing but an exercise in aggravation. CZs are full of bullet sponge NPCs but the T7s are still made of wet napkins. I carefully took out the power plant.... had no effect. OK I guess taking out the thrusters must do it...nope he died. Second attempt, going right for the thrusters. Great, thrusters are out, now hes careening through space at 450m/s tumbling like a tumbleweed in space... boost to catch up... boost again... boost some more... deploy hatch breaker... doesn't work. Deploy hatchbreaker.... doesnt work... deploy hatchbreaker... doesn't work... deploy hatch breaker, works but drops a random cargo the mission isn't asking for... deploy hatch breaker, correct cargo comes out but explodes on my windshield because physics stopped applying for some reason... deploy hatchbreaker... drops correct cargo AND I get it! Only 79 to go.
T7 reboots, gets shot in the engine again and blows up. Yeaahhhh no. I'm done.

What happened to those megaship piracy missions? 1000's of bulk freighters out there and none of them carrying LTD's or Opals. Perfect opportunity for wing raids & challenges for high skilled solo cmdrs

Eh, they have LTDs. At least the one I hit the other night did, but it was kind of boring.

I just tucked up real close to the cargo bay to shield myself from as much turret fire as possible, then shield tanked while I collected up the goods.

I think a pirate attack happened about the same time.

Only got like 10 LTDs.

Could be fun with a wing, maybe. I did figure out how to disable the megaship turrets.

Good to hear at least LTD's are available, when I tried it was food and a bunch of other pointless commodities. I wish they would ramp up defences on these capital class ships, look at combat against Majestics and Farraguts, essentially sitting in a blind spot shooting at heat relays.. Such a missed opportunity.

Yeah, I like that, Marc.

Go steal from faction X. Steal whatever from them. Just steal.

Bring 100T back to us and we'll pay you handsomely.

Sounds like a great mission template.

Yeah, agreed. And believe me, most of the stuff in the cargo bay was useless junk. Leather, aluminum... meh.

One of the problems with many assets in this game is that they don't react until you literally pull the trigger. You don't have to approach surface installations or megaships in SR, act fast get the job done before all hell breaks loose. The people inside sit there and watch you methodically prepare to commit a crime, and then are like "He fired a hatchbreaker, get him!"

At least when I start scanning, give me an alert and a timer. You have x minutes to leave the area before we take hostile action. Something like that. Something that makes it a nice challenge for a solo ship, and a fun bit of coordination for a wing.

Frontier should want more player pirates, considering how many paint jobs and ship kits they sell in this genre.

This thread's got me thinking that I'd like to see a variant on tip-offs that spawns a mission for you with a relatively short time window. "We've heard there's a load of low temperature diamonds that's gonna be moved in the X system."
No actual objective, just a short time period where if you go to that system, a mission signal source will spawn with a cargo ship full of valuable loot and maybe a couple of escorts, and you can go there or not. The cargo ain't special, you don't have to return it to the mission giver, it just spawns you a target to pirate - or maybe a few different systems each week just happen to passively spawn some lucrative hauls and the tip-offs tell you which systems they are.

Hell, even have a thing in the contacts menu where you can spread some creds around with the factions that are friendly towards you so you can find out if they have any juicy gossip. Anarchy factions would naturally be more likely to have this sort of info and sell it cheaper if you're on good terms. Give players some rewards for siding with the criminal factions.

Nice ideas - you should put these in the suggestions forum.

Yes they still carry lots of random other commodities inside their cargo. It works better of you set your limpet filters. I also agree that these missions are too much work for their payout.

So these missions have never been touched with the changes
to wing haulage and haulage missions, and now we can't flip the board
for new missions, as the piracy ones simply are horrible and unfair.

When will we see a rework so all jobs have missions that are
at least close to each other regarding payment for risk vs. reward?
