Ok so firstly i just want to say "HI" to all you dangerous players ;-) secondly i have a couple of questions. Can you change your name midway through a game or do you have to start again for a different name? also i have two ships when i purchased the merc edition, i have the sidewider and the eagle. I currently flying the eagle which was my bonus ship, now if my eagle is destroyed do i get this back or is it gone for good and move over to my sidewider which is the start ship for Elite Dangerous? BTW im total loving this game and looking to buy the Saitek x52 flight stick with separate throttle. Have you guys got any other recommendations or is this the one to go for?

Hi,

No name change. Maybe we get multiple commander slots later, so you can test another career without wiping.

If your "Freagle" is destroyed, I think you need to pay insurance to get it back. Otherwise you get the free Sidewinder.

Edit: You can see the insurance cost on your right panel. It is smart to always have at least this amount in the bank, just in case you blow up...

It's a percentage of your total ship value, including modules you bought. So if you fit your free Sidewinder with new weapons, thrusters etc, and get destroyed, you need to pay to get those upgrades back. The hull on the sidewinder is free.
