Newcomer / Intro hi, can some one help got quesion

i am new to the game i got no clue what 2 do in begining

i am out.. can not hyperdrive to anyplace can not do anything.
every place says atleast 1 year travel. got simple ship and 1000 credit

what 2 do in start? its like sitting in empty space and can not do anything

More details please...

If a system is 1ly away your sidewinder can get there. When you attempt to set the destination and travel there, what errors do you receive?

When starting out, the easiest way to get going economically is to look for some simple delivery missions, not source and deliver missions.

Your Frame Shift Drive has two modes: Supercruise and Hyperjump. Supercruise is for traveling within one star system, hyperjump is for going to distant stars.

Press 1 to bring up the navigation panel. Used W and S to scroll up and down the list, and your trigger or UI select key (joystick 1, left mouse button) to select something to target. Press 1 again to look forward. Press your FSD button. The drive will begin to charge.

If you targeted a distant star, turn to point towards that star. You'll hyperjump in about 4 seconds and arrive at the next star.

If you selected something within your system, you'll be in supercruise. Accelerate by increasing your throttle and you start flying faster.

how i see what missions i can get ?

Missions are listed at the bulletin board in station services, which you can see when you dock.

can not jump hyperspace why? it says jump excuded fuel limit of 0.6 tons

0_o
i wanna travel to planet in crusied mode it takes so long says 2.9 days 2.8 days ages..

i wanna hyperjump to get there faster , why not working any idea?

i would recomend doing the tutorials to every new pilot in ED, it covers all the basics and gives you a good head start in the galaxy.

i did and still have issues with long distance travel

You're trying to supercruise to another star. You can't do that - even if you travel the correct distance without running out of fuel in deep space (if you do you'll die when your power plant shuts down and your lifesupport goes out) you'll never "arrive" because the game won't instance your destination for you.

From your previous post it looks like you tried to target a star system outside your jump range.

Your jump drive consumes more fuel the more mass it is pushing and the further you go. It has a limit on how much it can use for a single jump and these factors are what determine your maximum jump range.

Supercruise is ONLY for traveling to destinations in the same star system.

If you have travelling in Supercruise for a while you might not have enough fuel anymore to 'jump' out of the system. If you are in a stock Sidey I suggest you self destruct and start back at the station in a free Sidey.
We have all been through these trials mate, it is a steep learning curve, but very rewarding.
Good luck Cmdr

upgrade your ship....it takes time doing smaller missions 1st. also press escape and options then controls to check your key bindings to familiarize yourself with the hyperspace/cruise controls.

so hyperspace only will be possible once i upgrade my fuel tank to over 0.60 tons ?
and
how i know if the small mission to deliver smth is from same star system ?

OK, first off...do the following:

Hit your Escape key (if in game), and then look at your options.

Look down the list for things like Enable Frameshift drive and Supercruise. These will likely be two different keys, but you CAN put them to one Default key to enable both/either/or, and I am not sure, but I believe the default is 'J'

To increase you cargo, you will need to be docked at a station with OUTFITTING. you can see which station has outfitting by pulling up the SYSTEM map, which can be done either straight from your LEFT (NAVIGATION) panel, or by opening your GALAXY MAP and selecting SYSTEM VIEW from the options there when you mouse over a Star.

The Stations/Outposts will list what services they provide, often things like:

Refueling
Rearming
Ship Yard
Outfitting
Commodities

Not All Stations/outposts provide all services, and some services are not listed at all (like Black Markets).

So, you need a Station/outpost with OUTFITTING.

Your Sidewinder has only a few slots available for cargo bays, and they increase exponentially by their class. Example:

Class 1 - 2 tons
Class 2 - 4 tons
Class 3 - 8 tons
Class 4 - 16 tons
Class 5 - 32 tons

And never seen it, but I am guessing:

Class 6 - 64 tons

So, based on the chart that has been complied buy Commander GunnyHighway:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=73571&p=1215211#post1215211

We see a sidewinder has 1 Class 1 and 2 class 2 internal components.

Your Discovery Scanner is in a Class 1, your Shield Generator is in a Class 2 and your cargo is in a class 2 (4 tons)

You COULD sell your Discovery Scanner and you Class 2 Shield, buy a Class 1 shield and another Class 2 Cargo Bay getting you another 4 tons of Cargo space for 8 tons total.

So again, Class (think Size) is obviously limited to that Class. Class 1, nothing but 1's, Class 2, Can be 1's or 2's. Class 3's, a 1, a 2 or a 3, and so on.

I hope this helps!

And welcome to the Galaxy!

Do you know the controls for hyper jump and super cruise etc? Look in your control settings. To hyper jump you need to pick a coordinate and hit the jump button after aligning with the target, to supercruise just hit the supercruise button. You can't travel to another system in super cruise (well, you can, but that will take years), that's what hyper jump is for.

OK, there's various ways of doing this. If you're already outside the station, this might be the easiest.

1. Check you're not mass locked. Hyperdrives only work once you're out of range of anything heavy, like planets, stars, space stations, or other ships. If you look at the right hand side of your cockpit display, you'll see three lights. If they're all off, you're good to go. If the middle one is lit up, fly a bit further away from the station.

2. Select your target system. Bring up the left side display in your cockpit (sorry, don't remember the default keybinding - can another Commander help here?). There should be a Navigation tab, so select that. From there you'll see a list of destinations. The ones near the top are all light seconds away - they're for destinations in your current system. The ones near the bottom are all light years away - those are the ones you want. The ones at the very bottom in red are out of range.

3. Line up on your hyperspace vector. Check the little compass to the upper left of your main scanner. You want to line up your ship so you have a solid blue dot in the middle of the compass. At that point you should be seeing your hyperspace target in front of you.

4. Fire up your frameshift drive and prepare to tear a hole in the fabric of reality! In other words press H. :)

Hope this helps and apologies if I'm just telling you stuff you already knew.

Good luck Commander!

so how i travel to other star system ?
and how i incrase my cargo?

i can take only 4 slots missions to delever

From the left hand UI panel, select the other star (if it says "excess mass" that system is out of range, if it says "insuff. fuel" you could get there if you had enough fuel but at the moment you don't. Targeting these systems is possible but you won't be able to jump there - as you found out.) and choose "lock destination" Point at it (use your compass to point yourself in the right direction - if the blue dot is hollow, your target is behind you it needs to be solid and centered) throttle up and hit j.

To get another view of which systems you can reach, from the left UI panel select "galaxy map". On the navigation pane of the galaxy map you will see blue lines showing jumps you can make. This will show you destinations that require multiple jumps as well - if you use the "plot route" option here it will automatically target the first jump you need to make for you.

By default the lines in the galaxy map show jumps you can make with your current amount of cargo. There is a slider in the bottom of the navigation panel that allows you to change that. If you're considering taking a cargo haulage mission, ALWAYS check here first setting the slider to the amount of cargo they want you to haul. That way you don't accept a mission to somewhere you can reach empty, but not with a full hold. If you accept a mission like that you'll get hit with a fine for failing the mission and the cargo will be flagged as "stolen" - resulting in more fines and stations opening fire on you if the cops scan you while it's in your hold.

As for increasing the cargo capacity, when you are docked at a station that offers the outfitting service, outfitting will be an option under starport services. In the outfitting screen you can buy bigger cargo racks.
