I've been playing around with the beta for about a week now off and on and taking in all the awesome information and tips that you guys have been posting. It is grand work and very helpful! I have followed the Elite games since the halcyon days of the humble Sinclair Spectrum through to the Commodore Amiga and the wonderful Frontier: Elite II.
When I heard about the latest iteration of this IP I was ecstatic to say the least and the game has lived up to my expectations even at this early stage.
Primarily though, What I would really like to say is that I am mightily impressed with the community itself. I have seen the creative things that some of you have done from your love of Elite and that is a testament to the power of Frontier Development's game to fire the imaginations of its player base. From Mobius' lovingly crafted sigs and Nomadski's beautiful video of some of Elites truly spectacular cosmic sight. To Flank Sinatras hilarious "Death of a Pilot" video, the game has more scope than I could ever have hoped for.
Coming from an MMO community that contained a particularly dubious element I have to say it is refreshing to see a bunch of people not solely preoccupied with flaming, trolling, namedropping and smack talking! I hope it remains so.
I tip my hat to you all and I am glad that I have chosen to dock in this particular station!
