Newcomer / Intro Hi From Hemet

I just got this great game today. Been playing PC and Mac games since 1980 back when i was in the Navy but never played much Elite was spending time on Falcon and the like back then.
I find it incredible how fantastic these games and graphics are now days and the price is not much more than we use to pay back then.
Anyone remember how when they came out with F15 III we thought those were the greatest graphics there would ever need be, and now look.
Well I'm glad I made the leap and am looking foreward to flying with you all as soon as I figure out some details, it took me a while to turn off silent running so I would stop blowing up.
guess I should RTM soon.

First of all welcome to ED Cmdr hope you'll injoy it as much as the rest of us...
Year reading the manual is proberly a good idea ;)
But also take some time to study the different bindings of key/buttons in the option menu.. Like turning silent runing on/off :D

Once you start the game(Try at least some of the tourial missions) then you can find lots of useful info. right here on the forum, and dont be afraid to ask if you come across an issue which you can't seem to
find the solution to... :)

Welcome Commander. Hope you find your journeys in Elite to be to your liking. The learning curve can be pretty steep at first, but I'm sure you'll have down everything you need to know soon. My best advice new players is to make sure that as you spend to upgrade your ship or buy new ships, ALWAYS make sure you have enough money for insurance. You can see how much CR's you need to have by panning over to the right-hand panel in your ship

Hi Tusler,

Welcome to the game :)

Don't be afraid to ask questions on here; just be afraid of the answers :D

Yes, we have all experienced that 'those graphics were amazing back in the day'. I had not played Independence War II in more then a few years now. But after having had plenty of time with Elite Dangerous, watching some videos from IWAR2 just kind of made me cringe :D
It's all relative I suppose.

Do you have a nice Joystick/HOTAS for Elite? It's abit of an investment, but it really pays off with the game, and helps to add that extra dimension which draws us further into the game :D

Again, Welcome, & see you in the Galaxy (or not, It's HUGE!) Commander :)

Hi Milkyway_dingo,
yea I have a Warthog Hotas with Saitek pedal setup, I like flying FSX and DCS so I had to aquire those...I think i might still be paying for them lol.
i cruised the forums and found some nice pictures of the warthog with the default key bindings labeled to the buttons and imeadiately printed those helps.
