WHY is it ? That I can mine ice rocks ,floating in space.. but i cannot mine ice on planets surfaces....
I can /claim - jump' mining rigs and steal material from NPC mining locations on surfaces.... but i cannont set up my own mining rigs and security drones...

Would'nt that be nice.. a secret location ..far from prying eyes... ..returning once a week to check up on how much rare material i have.. and alarm in ship to warning me if some
no gooder is 'attempting to steal ..hhmmm.

Yeah, some kind of deployable mining rig/rafinery for surface mining would be good. But first you must have planet surface waypoint adding available in game.
