So I just wanted to share my news that after 73 days away on my first ever Exploration Trip, I'm back!

Bit of a strange feeling if I'm honest, if not a little unnerving having entered the letter box finding your pad and then realising you've forgotten which button on your HOTAS drops the Landing Gear :eek:

Needless to say I found the right button on the 2nd try :eek:

Now, just to workout where to sell my data and how much of it in each location. Any thoughts or tips on this much appreciated.

I was thinking of using it to try and get some Permits.

I'll keep a track of what is made and post my results in the Explorers' Trip Data Log along with system counts etc.

My trusty Asp "Ulysses" ( http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70g,,2-3I6u7_6u5K8S8I,52MmpV7Q42jw2UI ) has been powered down and once I manage to prise myself out of this chair I'll be in the Sky Bar on Level 9 having a couple of cold ones!

Haven't sold anything yet, just browsing my data on the Universal Cartographics screen.

PS: I'll go through and have a look at the pictures I took, although I didn't take as many as others do, nor are they anything to special from memory.

Did things change to where you do not lose all your data on ship destruction? I've not read much about exploring recently, but have taken note in the past of horror stories of people losing it all. Perhaps I should read patch notes? :D

Now IF you could still lose all those credits, I'd not be shopping around so much to sell it. I'm guessing you have 100+ mil credits at stake from what I gather from some other's results.

Nope, nothing changed. All your data is at risk until you sell it.

You can re-outfit your ship or jump into a more combat ready one before you go looking for good places to sell, but if you die before you've sold it then it's still gone.

Welcome back to civilization CMDR!!!

Looking forward to come back soon!! Also afraid on the landing a little bit but at least my designated base is an outpost! So won't be dealing with mail slots or big ships!!! lol..

94 days and counting....expect to be back in some 10 more days or so as I cant play this weekend or the next...

I'm still out in the black and I just don't have the itch to come back to civilization just yet. But when I do... Does Li-Yong pay double for exploration data? And do I have to join his faction to get that bonus?

It's triple. But to get it you not only have to pledge to him, you also need to earn enough merits to get to rank 5 and wait until the next end of week cycle (Thursday morning). If you've got 100m credits spare then you can buy your way to rank 5 quite quickly for relatively little risk if you stick to solo. Just remember that loss of ship = loss of exploration data.

How do you 'buy' your way to rank 5 if you happen to have 100 million spare?

I guess I'm going to have about @200 million credits worth of data on my return, and happen to have 100 million lying around in big bundles all around my anaconda bridge whilst out here exploring.

By my maths, if I spend that 100 million, I'll make 300 million overall, which is quite tempting.......

Oh well, I'll consider this next time.

welcome back engadine btw. you should take a closer look into the closets in your bedroom, maybe there some nasty surprise hidden in there ;)
you need around 8 pages of data to get allied with the major faction of a system to geht the permit mission (if it works...)

:) I'm still in the bar.....

I'll stick around populated space for a while, well that's the plan. Have got a few ideas ready for my next trip, but will plan milestone destinations/way points a bit better rather than just following my nose. Might even just pop outside of the bubble to see what's around a little closer to home.
