Hi-RES Corvette SCB heat issues, advice sought

Commanders,
Pleaae take a look at my PvE and HI RES Corvette combat build, am having heat issues during combat when deploying the SCB. I woiuld prefer not to carry a heat sink as it would take up a slot, would instead prefer to buy a more efficient module than the 7B presently installed. Would a 6A or 7A SCB work better in terms of heat damage ?
Any advice welcome.

Long range Thermal vent beam lasers are a great way to mitigate heat.

I got a thermal vent on a giant beam laser and medium beam laser, usually keeps me under 90 when I bring my shields back up

I have run 2 7B SCB for CZ staying power, as they have more charges and double banking them worked out great with my shield set up. I'd use a heat sink for double banks, but with a G5 armored PP and G4 Specialized on the SCB, a single SCB use would just briefly bring me over 100% heat, and was no issue at all if I had thermal vent on something.

Just to clarify, do you mean beam lasers with Thermal Vent engineering ?
Thermal Vent is a experimental effect on beam lasers it will pump heat from your ship as long as the beam is hitting your target otherwise it will increase the heat generated in your ship so aim well.

As far as heat sinks go according to your posted build you have an unused utility slot anyway.

With large SCBs, IMHO it's best to install Increased Ammo Engineered Heat Sinks.

For a single large SCB (7A or 7B), a single Heat Sink is sufficient - the few surplus SCB applications won't do too much harm to the Modules in terms of Heat Damage.

Ideally, Thermal Vent Special on Beams really works wonders for controlled (active) SCB activation, although it has its limits (i.e. it can't fully compensate a 7A or even 2x 7A chained activation - that's clearly Heat Sink territory to take care of).

For reactive application (defensive or unplanned i.e. after a Collision or massive Alpha Damage), there might not be a target in sight at this very moment to use it though.
Hence, Heat Sink(s) are very useful and would be my preferred choice.

My current Corvette build (ignore some of the Resistances, I'm too lazy to change it; plus I just saw it also still carries a small Bait Cargo Rack to attract Pirates) :

Your shields are the problem. Get bi weaves and you won't need scb at all.
^^Basically this. I've never used SCB's (PVE) on my Corvette, and never ever had the need to boost my shield in a fight. A bit of clever flying and even a Corvette can dance with an Eagle.

EDIT: Actually, I lies. I have tried it, a single 7a. Then I used the 2 huge Eff.Beam with heat vent to keep the heat under 150 atleast.

I use 2x7B with G1 Specialized Boss cells (same shield as yours). Almost as good as stock 7A but cooler and has one extra charge. The Vette can deal with the extra weight easily.
My 2 Huge Efficient Thermal Vent beams come in handy too. Just be hitting something with them while popping the cells. It rarely overheats and if it does the damage is minimal and I can stay out forever. Or sometimes I just swap them out for GSRPs.
X.

For PvE, I can't see why you'd not want to use heatsinks. Using one heatsink for 2 SCBs will allow you to take on 10 ships at the same time. I used to go to CZs with my Corvette to do massacre missions, only to find that the war was over, but that was no problem with a double plus SLF Corvette. Just shoot one of the enemy ships, and they all start shooting back. It's great fun to see how long you can stay before you have to bug out. I could normally get 3 or 4 ships each time, which enabled me to finish the massacre missions, even when the war was over.

Well, there is also the more efficient armoured PP. You can save some power by downgrading the wake scanner. A-rated ones have ridiculous consumption. I just use the Bi-Weave hybrid. No problems in the res sites. Usually no problems in CZ either, but I do have a SCB for emergencies.

100% this is some good advice. I almost always use the armored PP engineering. If I need more power then I’ll use the monstered experimental. Overcharged PP is a scam IMO.

I also agreed on the scanners. The A rated ones are not worth the power draw. I used ally use B or C. These are the one of two areas of outfitting where A rating isn’t the best option for most builds
