HICZ - YouTube Challenge

My combat rank in-game is currently "Competant" and I'd say that's fairly accurate as to how I'd rate my fighting ability. I'm not the best, but I'm certainly not the worse. I know the basics, but will sometimes miss the obvious when under fire. When I saw a mission for three kills in a system with a High Intensity Conflict Zone, I took it without a second thought. That, I could handle.

I used to go into combat zones and RES and make 300-500K easily; usually without losing shields. However, due to SJA's tweaks I've been having considerably more challenge as of late. This video, recorded last night, shows you just how formidable the challenge was in v1.3.7. Pythons, Anacondas and one particularly nasty shield ripping Viper made for an interesting gaming session.

I would like to issue a challenge to anyone with E: D videos on their YouTube account to post a video of themselves in a High Intensity Conflict Zone (Using the latest version of the game) to see how well they do. Post your video link here and let everyone see how long you last before you need to bug out.

I simply want to see if the AI tweaks challenge other players and videos never lie.

In no way is this a criticism of SJA who I think has done a great job adding some steel to the NPC's backbones. (All hail Queen of the Minions)

I agree some of the ships seem ridiculously strong in the conflict zones. Yet you are flying a Cobra and its fire power is rather weak. Try a Vulture, Clipper or FDL ;)

I would love to but my videos would look terrible and laggy. The frame hit would make it difficult to perform as well.

If I could offer one piece of advice? After you jump into the zone fly away just out of range before you pick a faction. Then fly back sticking to the edges of the battle and see who engages you before you pick your first target. Choosing faction in the middle like that is asking for pain from all sides.

@agentmoo

That's the way I've always done it and never had an issue until now. You make a good point though. Thanks.

Ok. Having watched the first five minutes of your video I will say this:

You have a lot to learn yet, so keep practicing.

You really need to improve your flying A LOT if you want to go to a HI-INTENSITY site. This has nothing to do with the game being too hard but all to do with an upgrade to the ai that means that you need to become much better.

Here are some pointers that will help you:

1. Turning rates, keep your throttle in the blue zone. When you turned to face the viper you spend a looooong time pitching that could have been cut IN HALF. Same went when you reversed your speed to fire back at him, your throttle was just a smidge off so your pitch rate and manoeuvrability was not 100%.

2. Power management, make sure that it's ALWAYS appropriate according to what you want to do and what your equipment is. When your shields went down you still had 3 pips in SYS and only 2 in ENG. You have to reverse that so you have 2 in SYS and 4 in ENG, otherwise that Viper will keep pounding you. When you turned to face the Viper, you still only had 1 pip in shield and 1 in ENG. I would have gone 3-3 in SYS and WPS with two beam lasers, switched to 4-2 when the capacitor went dry and then used the multis to finish of the viper.

3. Silent running, when your shields are down, enable silent running, boost and drop a heat sink if you have it. It will get you out of a pinch faster.

4. Your load out for going to a combat zone. I could not see what your loadout was but I am guessing that you are not running A shields and a Booster? They went down FAST! Also use your shield cell when you have only 1 ring left, that's why your shields went down the 2nd time.

Hope you can use this! Hope you will keep practicing.
